i have the PC halo, (don't ask its origin)

i am running it with a 9000, and few issues of note.

a 9800 is magnitudes higher of a vid card, why cant you play halo?

my specs, 2.6 celeron, 384 ram 64 meg 9000 radeon

Well I can play Halo, but I still want to get the max out of it for next generation gameing *cough Half-life 2* and for some reason I still have like lag on the screen, I think its my framerate/refresh rate, I dont really know, but when ever im in a enclosed room the graphics lag, what should the framerate/refresh rate be? Whats the difference?

hmmm, all i can advise is, overclocking is not the answer..

i have seen how halo runs, and i feel strongly, that you are worrying needlessly..

since i am hesitant to say why i feel this way, you will need to take my word for it.. HL2 plays better than halo, if you can play halo, don't ruin your card prematurely

You aren't mentioning anything else in your computer, a 9800 pro should not have any problems with Halo from a hardware perspective. Give some of your others hardware specs, patches and drivers in use. [addsig]

yes, halo is extremely harsh on the fps, live with it.

in some parts of the single player i was finding myself having to turn down the graphics (i was playing with everything on full, 1280x1024x32 bit ) just to complete this one room, it was so full of enemies that it lagged too badly to play properly (talking less than 10 fps here)

then again, in the big outdoor areas with full settings i get a nice 150 fps with vsync off...

imo, Dont sacrifice the health of a good card just for that bloody halo game. (sorry, cant stand it)

Ya Halo is a waste of my time, no matter how hard i try its crap, even the multiplayer, all crap, last night I get the New New update and I cant join for 3 hours or so because my version is NEWER than the others. ugghhh. Then when I do get to play online, it lags so bad there is now fun, Halo on x-box is MUCH BETTER, the only way for actual fun is to lan, and that doesn't happen here too often. Man I really wish Doom 3 or HL2 would come out so i can have fun again, thats the prob with new games, they are so advanced, they lag online, the older are simple, so you can have fun online (HL1 UT WAR CRAFT I ohh yeah).

I think most newer engines give better pings tbh, My ping on CoD averages at 130 on 56k.

my opinion, for what its worth, the better an engine is, the less your PC has to do, so it can concentrate on the data being sent and received on line.

course, that may be just a given, but newer IMO doesn't mean its a better engine..

since i am not inclined to seek out who's engine is running what game i will note that halo, plays harder than CoD, U2 plays even better than Cod, and Q3 plays better than HL1..

depends i guess on what you like, and what you are willing to contend with to play it.. i played/fragged HL for 3 years on 56k at an average ping of 300+ and 12FPS

now, i wouldn't dream of it...

IMO, if you can play Halo, and is actually playable (ie. atleast 20fps), youre set for HL2. [addsig]

My 9800 is a real bitch... I posted before saying it kept freezing the computer on me, and now I found out it was because of drivers, well, each driver I download, it says another one has gone bad.

Does anyone know where I could get a 'full set' of Radeon 9800 WinXP drivers?

/me has to wonder, is it possible that the 9800 is just to big for most PC's

i remember a time, when the video card was in advance of the pc, especially when the voodoo line first appeared.

anyways, omega has good optomisation..

also there is a program that tweaks it even more, but damned if i cannot recall at the moment.. i found it via google searching tho, turned out my small card didn't need the extra tweaks, but you may benefit.
