The upload progress map upload page is back, albeit in Beta form. The original add map page is still there if you have problems, but there is also a link to the beta page.
You will need Flash player 9, although 10 is recommended.
I have heavily overhauled the way the backend code works to make it compatible with non-Firefox browsers, and hopefully everything should be working ok now.
Should be useful for people uploading large files.

Suh-weet! Although, I think if you want to get some real tests out of it, I would turn the beta upload page into the default page (the page to appear when clicking the 'add map' button) and add a link at the bottom saying something like
"If your map did not upload, or the profile did not go through, please click here to load up the standard version of this page and try again. Sorry for the inconvenience, we are currently testing a new upload bar for large files. Thank you!"
-And every time a user clicked that link, you could have it send you a personal e-mail notifying you, or offer the user to send you a pm describing the issue.
/2 cents

I still need to do a bit more code for the backend as there is a certain way it can break right now... well, not break but behave oddly if someone does certain things. It's v unlikely tho. It should degrade to a normal form if you don't have flash too, but haven't tested that yet either.
I'll just keep working and get round to testing it in other browsers... then recode the edit page too before making it the default.

Modified upload processing so that an animated gif will work provided its dimensions are with the specified constraints and it does not exceed 256KB.

Quoting RedWood
Is there a way to get a gif to work as an avatar? It uploaded but it doesn't play.

Have you re-uploaded it? or re-named it first and then uploaded it (in case the current code does not overwrite files with similar names)

You need to resize it so it doesn't exceed 150px in either width or height, and also make sure it doesn't exceed 256KB in file size.
If it exceeds either of these it will go through processing which will nerf any animation.
Name doesn't matter... they all get named to avatarUserID.gif or whatever (eg avatar6381.gif/jpg/png for me).
Also fixed the issue with them being cached and not refreshing after upload.

I have a question about updating maps...
I need to post new download links as all the Filefront targets got deleted unbeknownst to me, BUT I don't necessarily want to have them appear on the front page. There's no reason to bump somebody's hard-worked-on new release from public view just to do such a low-level update.
Possible?

Well the 'latest maps' column doesn't go off when a map was updated, so you won't bump any maps off there.
The 'recent updates' box on the bottom left will still show any recent edits... just so ppl can see when something has been updated.
Sound ok?
Hall of Fame got waylaid, sorry. Might get around to doing it properly if I can!

Just had a chance to try out the new map upload function (with the live progress bars) and it worked marvelously. Never been that comfortable before.
Great job, larchy!

I think we need a way to delete map images instead of either leaving them as is, or replacing them, Is there a way to delete a map's profile images one by one? -In case one were to stop working kinda like the second image for RedWood's new map: cs_offload It either needs to be replaced or deleted. Am I missing something?

The last pic was a duplicate. so i changed it from 8 pics to 7 in hopes that it would delete the last one. It didn't work out so well.

It would be nice if you were able to comment on someone's diary entry's. Do you think it's a good idea?

Larchy I just have to say the site works grate on my cell phone. Even browsing the maps section works grate. I barly see a diffrence between my phone and computer. The only part that doesn't show properly are the actual form post. Unless your zoomed all the way out the body of text is halfway off the page to the left and u can't scrool to it. Other then that grate job.
I have a g1 with a moded os and I think the browser was pulled from a latter version of android. Don't know if u care just incase u wanted to know.

I think it's an unannounced agreed consensus:
Can we allow first posts (starting posts) to threads be editable all the time for the users who posted it?
Hopefully this won't be too big a deal to implement.

I don't think that I like the "whos online" being alphabetically listed. I am quite used to being listed among the 1st, not last.
We need to go back to registration date listing order.
