Hi and welcome to the newest version of our website, which has been developed over the winter based on feedback from active users.
We are also on a new web host, so everything should be much faster and more reliable now.
This thread is for the posting of feedback on the new site, but please keep your posts constructive.
Please read the v6 development thread before posting as the reasons behind certain many new features are explained in there.
The now defunct 'Relaunch' thread can still be found here
NB - do not post bugs in this thread - there is a bugs thread for that here
Thanks and have fun!

Yahoo! Glad to have the site updated! -And FAST! Yay. Ok, first request, :P
-I don't currently see a way to be able to moderate user journals. That means anyone can post whatever they want said on the front page, and admins couldn't do anything about it. Perhaps a 'moderate' dropdown menu like for other user posts could be added in case we get some 'unwanted' material.
Looks like the site crossed over normally! -I hope it wasn't too strenuous on ya?

Loving the speed yes!
One of the gnarly things about the previous version was the search function, wasn't all that intuitive or effective. EG searching for a map by name, you MUST enter the exact name, which is a drag when you can't remember it exactly, just a keyword.
Can't sort map discussion forum by post date or name, just automatically when it was started. Makes sense for a regular forum but I find myself looking for links I remember seeing in certain threads.
Wierd loop here: http://www.snarkpit.net/index.php?s=forums&f=2&t=10179&tp=#175243
clicking on the link for the discussion thread gives an error, but not if I navigate the opposite way, from discussion thread to map page.http://www.snarkpit.net/index.php?s=maps&map=3091
Nice work so far! Thank you!

Perhaps for Journal entries also, you should limit only a character limit of 250 or something, because extremely long journals might push the page down quite a bit and make it look all weird. -Then make the titles linkable to their respective pages so users can read the whole thing (like newspaper articles!)

Uber props to the larch, he has worked and continues to work extremely hard for us mere minions. When I visit the grim north i'll be sure to buy him a beer/coffee/kitty food on the behalf of all our members.
Big thanks to all who donated to pay for our new hosting too, your contributions are greatly appreciated. Thanks also to the old master Leperous who transferred our domain with no quibbles or qualms.

Haha! oh dear, big apologies, bit of a daft error in the script that handled creating all the map threads... quite a few of the links to the actual maps would have been b0rked.
Just ran a script to clean things up, so all the affected links should be fixed now.
Bugs thread for future problems though else I might not see the post! thanks!

Is there a way to have multiple images in the same line in the forum signature? If you check out my signature I want those three images to be in the same line but it seems to automatically add them to another line.

Does anyone ells hear think that the signatures should have a limit height of about 130 pixels including text. I'd kill myself if the Pit became this.

Whoa, That's crazy! I don't 'get' that at all. What's the point of having a sig if they have to make it so huge?

First off..
The page does not render at all on the OPERA BROWSER.
Second the WELCOME NAME is pushed far right and overlaps the MAPPING RESOURCE image on the header in IE 8.0.
As for Signatures, I think they should be limited as well in the following manner:
1: 1 image signature no taller than 200 pixels, X what ever length the message area default is.
2: 1 line of text no longer than the text area can provide for 2 lines to cover favorite quotes.
3: No Adult themed ( Porno ) signatures should be allowed.
Other than that, I think we can address signatures as we go along.

I agree also, signatures shouldn't be too big. I actually wanted to have those three images in one line (hence my previous post in this thread).
Yeah that site is pretty crazy

Its good people actually care about the snark marks. They should be effective in spurring participation.
Maybe we should try to think of more things we could ern buy gaining points.
I just thought of this:
What if we used the snark marks as a form of currency. The total points you have collected would still be shown below your name but you could use your marks to purchase abilitys on the site. Such as the ability to use the more unusual and fun smileys. (
ect). Even if this was implemented some things could (probably should) be left purely to the total amount of points accumulated (pits). There could even be a little store set up in the control panel.
What do u guys think? Does this strike anyone as fashist? I like the idea my self.

When we open the extend smillies list could it be made so that clicking on one would selected and put in the post instead of having to copy past it?
EDIT:
Wow, triple post. my bad.

Quick question: Is it... "impolite" to actually use SnarkPit's new file hosting for maps instead of providing an external mirror? I mean regarding bandwidth or available storage. I don't mind either way, it just seems very convenient to use the on-site hosting now.
