I could crack a joke here about Texas and the death penalty... but I will resist!
This stuff pisses me off two. However I will not deny a fellow citizen (stupid or non-stupid) the right to due process of the law. The only problem I see is that the law has no power to prevent things like this from happening again (a harsher penalty for vehicular manslaughter might do it).
Either way it would make me sick if this person was allowed to keep their driving license beyond a year's suspension (as in she should never drive again at the very least in lew of jail time)

I would be rather surprised if she got away that easily. I don't know about US law, but from what I remember from my driving classes, an accident like that nukes your license, makes you pay significant compensation to any children/family members and probably gets you an involuntary homicide conviction.
Also, she has to live knowing that she killed someone. I doubt that she would be laughing a lot for the rest of her life.
But again, nothing brings back the victim. The only thing useful that can be done, is prevent this sort of thing from happening in the future. Stricter laws for doing distracting things like that while driving a vehicle should be a start.

I think they should line her up to a wall and beat her to death with tennis balls. Then kill her offspring to make sure that stupud gene does not carry on and infect the IQ of future generations.

She was careless, as so many millions of Americans(humans?) are everyday behind the wheel. I believe that lifetime suspension of liscence would be appropriate, as would heavy fines(very heavy). But realistically, the prisons in America are already overwrought with actual criminals, and there's apparently not enough resources to manage them now!. I cannot see the benefit of jailing her. Her life would be much better spent in mandatory public service, whether it be picking up trash on the freeway, or speaking to younger students about the dangers of perilous distractions while driving.
P.S. Maybe the face of the woman she killed should be tattooed on her stomach as well, hehehe.

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of these 'actual criminals' were in prison for offences that pale into insignificance compared to killing someone through nothing but gross negligence.
I don't agree that she should fry, but the tattoo and the lifetime of puplic servitude sound fitting for the crime. Equally, if we were to consider the offences of many inmates, I'm sure we could be a lot more creative than just locking them up.

I like the idea of a life sentence of picking up trash on the side of the road, with a sign she would have to carry... I killed a guy because my self absorbed nail painting while driving was more important.

I failed to answer your second question though.. Yes I would feel the same had she been doing anything other than driving and idel chatter with a person in the car. I would feel the same if it was a man or women or teenager driving... but my real problem is with the system there. I know a crime has been commited.. There should be some justice.. but they are just considering filing charges, so the victum gets run down by a motorist, and then is allowed to walk off scott free... someone should of been arrested on the spot, charges filed, and the courts allowed to do its thing.
