Well 3D Realms has bitten the dust and after 12 years of teasing and re-design, it looks like Duke has finally bitten the dust. One of the developers of the game has released some footage of various aspects of the game and I must say some of them look really cool. I don't think, however, that based on this footage, they were anywhere near completion. What confounds me the most is why they took so long to "NOT" complete what would have been a sales blockbuster????????.

What do you think?

Anybody who didn't see this coming is a fool.

It was pretty obvious years ago when they switched through three engines and dumped all their work repeatedly that they had terrible management and no clue what they were doing or how to do it.

Yeah it's very obvious indeed. Nothing else to say about it.

Too bad for 3D Realms. I didn't think they'd wither out like this. But at least (according to the article) we haven't heard the last of Duke Nukem.

Yea like TF2... uh wait...

I'm kinda sad that oldschool gameplay didn't find its way back to the mainstream with DNF (kinda like TF2 eventually brought back fun to FPSs).

heh, I'd think given the released TF2 compared to the unreleased TF2s that my statement still holds true smiley

Apparently, we're not the only ones dissappointed by 3D-Realms treatment of our old friend Duke. Seems like they accepted around 12 million dollars from Take Two studios exclusively earmarked for DNF development, which Take Two was going to distribute. Story here:

This almost seems like criminal behaviour to me. As if 3-D realms was never intending to release the game. It's almost like they bilked Take Two out of the money.

-Huh, imagine that. -I don't know much about the situation, but I could say something seemed quite fishy about it all. -I mean really 12 years?
