Just like the title says, do you like the new unlock system?
When I played the game after the Spy VS Sniper update for the first time, I totally hated it, and I really misded the old style (the achievement style to be precise).
But now, after the new blog post on teamfortress.com, I think it will become pretty cool.
So, my vote goes for "I think it will be good in later updates"
What do you think?

I vote that 'unlocks', 'grinding', 'achievements', and 'items granted soley on time spent ingame' are all shit and have no place in games. I would like to thank World of Warcraft and the Xbox360 for spreading their taint.

If the new items/weapons/etc are all balanced and fair, why not just give them to players without some WoW-style grinding? Seriously, Valve!
L4D lacking a proper server browser already was a dark harbinger of the end times. Get ready for "TF2 Kidz - The Early Years!" on the Wii.

I fired TF2 up the other day after not having played for probably at least a year.
No clue what this unlocks thing is... I noticed there was some rubbish to do with weapon 'loadout'? Was hoping that wasn't some stupid "play lots to get scarier guns" thing they've added.
But in any case, have found it virtually impossible to actually get on a server since the sorry excuse for a 'browser' it now has hardly ever refreshes, and on the occasions I sit for 10mins waiting for it to actually do something it never seems to connect even when it's managed to find a server. I don't remember it being that retarded when it came out?
Anyway, lost all my decent server ips long ago... so stuff it D:

That's weird, because when I look for servers I found all of them in around 30 seconds.
Reinstall might help.

L4D doesn't have a server browser? What the hell were they thinking? It's built in with Steam for heaven's sake. Makes my interest in L4D somehow less than zero.

it does actually... enable the dev console and type 'openserverbrowser'
Or might be show instead of open, can't remember.

No, openserverbrowser is correct, but I couldn't find servers with it last time for some reason.

Pros and cons to the milestone system. Far to many servers are wasted on achievement maps. Unfortunately it looks like achievement whoring servers will be sticking around seeing how the re enabled the system.
You guys think they planed on do this from the start or do u think that they are back by popular demand?

Reality has become a commodity.

Well, the point in bringing back the milestones was to keep the old method the fans were familiar to in collecting the upgrades. But what they introduced with the spy/sniper update was the ability to 'pick up' upgraded weapons. By pickup though, they don't mean pick up fallen upgraded weapons from downed enemies and comrades, instead, it's based on how long you play. So the longer you play, the more chance you may randomly receive a random upgrade pickup, the catch is that it may be of one you already have. So in that case, you can have multiples of the same upgrade weapons. What do you do with the multiples? -Well, you can trade them! -Or give them away. If you have multiples of the same weapon upgrade, you can give it to someone else. -or at least this is how I understand it to work (nobody I've met has yet to give me anything, but I do own copies of some weapons already). This was to eliminate the need to go on achievement servers.

Not 100% true. The trade system is not here yet, it'll probably be here in the next update.
And the chance of finding weapons doesn't get higher when you play more. It's always the same. You can get one after 20 minutes for the same chance as getting one after 6 hours.
I deleted TF2 from my computer now. After the new update, I suddenly had all new unlocks because I had enough achievements. I deleted them because it was not fun having them all so fast.
So no TF2 for me at the moment, will probably play it again in the next update. I got L4D to play in the meantime anyway so that's no problem to me.
