Do you need to give credit if you make a level with textures and models that you got from another map or mod on the internet?
Do you need to cite where you got them from or give credit if you use them in your own maps?
I have several maps that I would like to post but they use other textures and models so that's why I am asking this.
Thanks.

Yeah, if you use somebody elses textures/models in your map you should ask them if you can use these textures/models before you publish the map.
Most people credit these types of things in readme files which come with the map.

You don't have too, we can all just hate on you and call you names for not doing it.

Yes. Just add a short txt file and zip it with your map.
It's pretty impolite not to do it.

Unfortunately I don't remember where the textures and models came from. So I guess I'll just not publish the maps then unless I manage to find where I got the textures and models from. Thanks for all of your help.

Perhaps you could say in the readme file that you're using custom content in the map but you can't remember where it came from.

Yea, as long as you recognize that it's not of your own making, give credit to anonymous, and all shall be right in the Kingdom of Oz.

Would this same thing work for music and sound files too or do they require more?

Yeah, just say that your using content from other projects and that's the best you can do I guess. The chances are that the original creator of that content will never notice that you used this, and even if they did, they probably won't care but it's always a good idea to just mention those things that you used.

What if the music/sounds are downloaded from a free music download site?
