Iv had my LG flatron for about 4 years now. When i turn it on the light blinks instead of being solid and its taking longer and longer to start. and yesterday it wouldn't turn on... I got it to work today buy i don't know how long i have. Even if the picture dulls i wouldn't expect the thing to flat out die. Anyone els have this happen to them?

Im in the market for a monitor. I want a good one. Im not buying another LG after this one screwed me over, so that leaves Samsung. Im looking to spend no more then 350$. I want the back lighting to be even across the whole screen, with out the bright spots at the top and bottom of the screen. 1080 or higher. the denser the pixils are packed the better. Does anyone have an opinion? or does anyone know how much i have to spend to get a real nice one?

I like this but apparently the back lighting is uneven. Can i do much better?

Personally I have two HP monitors (one 19in and 24in). I got the 24in for $250 at circuit city partly used.

If you don't want to go with HP, then go with Samsung. I would also suggest looking into each manufacturers policy on dead pixels. IMHO 1 dead pixel should mean a return/replacement, but there are companys out there that have different values (Dell for instance is 2 dead pixels, others are as high as 7..)

I lost my 5yo Dell 17in lcd monitor a few months ago to a short in the backlight. It still displayed things properly but I needed to shine a flashlight into it just to see anything. 100 bucks later and I had a new Dell 17in monitor.

I was lucky to have it last that long. In college I had a water pipe burst directly above my computer and it knocked out the monitor (which was on at the time of course). Nothing like the smell of ozone and a whole lot of water to wake up to. smiley

Well, it happend. I'm typing this out on my cell phone. On the up side I'm excited I get to take my monitor apart now.
Ill look into the hp's. I have read good things about them in the past.

I got an ASUS similar to this a while ago, and it has the best image I've found on any monitor yet
