I'm going to write up my Day of Defeat tutorials from this week to spring break and am giving this chance to request anything specific that you've been wondering about. I'll probably add a bunch of somewhat general mapping ideas that are common in DoD maps as well as some handy ones to keep in mind. So far I've figured I'll cover the following:

- Sandbags (window sill, destroyable sandbag placements)
- Models & Sprites (Clippings, styles, general ideas)
- Sounds (Good volumes, placements, choices)
- Flags (Control Point method of gameplay)
- Objectives (Objective style play)
- Variations of the gameplay styles
- Information on DoD specific entities
- Any known bugs in the current .fgd or game in general
- Extra "to know" information (player boundings, shot penetration)
- More

Anything else while I'm at it?

By variations of gameplay, do you mean layout of maps? Or weapon advantages, or objective then capture point maps (in the same round)?

Well, you know what it doesn't matter, those are my suggestions lol.

A thought on acceptable r_speeds would be nice too, since some Valve released dod maps are in the thousands. Just a idea of a ratio or something like that.

I'm looking forward to your tutorial, it is very hard to find dod specifics outside of the dod site.

Maybe faking NPCs too (which I'm sure you're already putting in) [addsig]

The variations can include advantages and disadvantages to using Brits, US, para, objective + flag etc. I'll try and cover as much as possible with those.

I'll include the chart of wpoly:epoly comparison and also give my own personal recommendations. And actually for example charlie was okay-ed by Activision, while the team didn't want to have something so large but they needed a new beach map and released it knowing that it wouldn't agree with all people. Either way, I'll give my suggestions.

Hah, I overlooked it being a sticky, I was like "WTF did my thread get super angry and deleted overnight?" But no, this is good. Simplicity and easy to understand are my main goals, this is for everyone else, I don't need 'em (I'll be making them eh?). And yes, there will be plenty of screenshots, it helps a lot. [addsig]

Sorry guys, I just had the worst case of mono the hospital here has ever seen. My throat was totally closed off and the last 2 weeks have been a write off for me, it could still be a while until I'm really well enough since it's a viral infection. [addsig]
