Oh My God I'm becoming a cranky old man.

you make this sound, like a bad thing

my views on the subject are as flexible as my experience allows them to be, they are not set in stone, as yours seems to be, but that only means, you have examples to chose from that are better than mine are.

if you like, i can accept your word on this and end the discussion, but you have not told us as yet, if you are a practicing vegetarian or not, and are you indeed healthy for being one.. i would be more willing to listen to someone who practices what they preach, for more than word-of-mouth.

all <--- points to word for emphasis.. of the vegetarians i have seen are sickly, all the time, but insist (i feel they are in denial) that they are just fine...

now if you wanna discuss the benefits, of eating meat... well there are many sickly meat eaters too, so....

TBH, I've never said that "Vegetarian diets are the only way to go, and all meat eaters die a horrible death in the end". I was just arguing that both are equally good, assuming the people who eath them have enough knowledge to have a balanced meal.

You don't need to take my word on it. but Yes and Yes to both parts.

Ive always nagged myself about trying to go vegetarian, but I just dont have the motivation for it. I eat allot of meat & junky crap, I think its great if people can achieve it for whatever reason.

Truth is I hardly ever imagine that what I eat was once a living creature because when its on your plate it doesnt exactly remind you of one.

I cant imagine id ever turn vegetarian, but it would always be a nice thing to do.

I've never considered going vegetarian. IMO, theres no reason. Anyone who can think of a good reason for going vegetarian, I'd like to hear it.

If you're likely to die of a heart attack, I'd have thought going vegetarian in your 40's/50's was a good way to avoid it?

if more people go vegy, then the price of wheatgerm goes up, and the price of meat goes down.. so my wallet encourages you to go vegy, so i can afford more meat..

Need I remind you, Orph, that there are plenty of people who get sick on a omnivorous diet as well.

Myself, I remain a skinny bastard whatever I try to do, period. A vegetarian diet would starve me.

I hear you cass, I'm the exact same - no matter how big the platefuls I eat are I'm still skinny. Kinda handy in ways I guess, but I'd rather be a tad less thin.

The prices won't go up if more people want it bud. The producers will be able to achieve economies of scale and the price will go down. [addsig]

i have no doubt of that cass, people can abuse any diet, and become unhealthy, as to the weight issue, you need enjoy it while you can, cause old age will fix that problem right up.. i was very/very thing till about 35 or so, then i shot up an additional 50 lbs.

when i was 12, i was 4'10" and 85 lbs, at 17 i was 5'7" and 130, at 20 i was 5'9" and 150, and remained so till about my mid 30's.. i am 41 and 5' 91/2" and 200 whopping lbs of chunky.. your metabolism will catch up to you eventually.

bulls**t.. chicken was like 15 cents a pound, before someone discovered it was healthy, its from 85 cents to well over a dollar a pound now.. same with fish, went thru the roof when some asswipe declared it healthy.. my theory is, let the dummies go vegy, it will cause meat prices to plummet..

I suppose its possible, but completely cutting meat out of your diet, suddenly, in your 40s/50s will probably be worse for you. The best thing to do in that situation (if meat is actually a problem), I would say, is to just reduce the amount of meat in your diet.
