I happen to like my knotted panties... they give me an excuse to be a dick, what is yours? -See, just me being a dick again. smiley

If they have a medical condition, then that would be what killed them not the Taser. All I can say is from the class given by taser, they told us there is only one current case that is pending that accuses Taser of killing anyone. And since the case has not yet been decided, as of this posting Taser has killed no one, according to Taser and case law. Now Taser could be blowing smoke up our collective asses.. it would not be the first time a corp. has done so.

MAZE from your link: "It is still unclear whether the Taser was directly responsible for the cause of death"

therefore my statement stands...

If someone dies after a Taser is used on them because they have a weak heart ... it's still the Tasering that killed them! The condition just made it possible. The reason why is very simple, they wouldn't have died at that specific moment, most likely, if they had not been Tasered.

That's like saying, smoking didn't give you lung cancer your susceptibility to smoke inhalation did.

RIDICULOUS.

Yeah I don't wanna fuel the fire but it's defiantly wrong to say "the taser didn't kill them their condition did". I suppose it's a bit of a dilemma though. The taser being a more diplomatic alternative to the gun vs the minority of people who have conditions the taser will set off possibly causing death.

Don't shoot the messenger... thats the company line, even on the WIKI.. get mad at them not me.

No what killed them is the condition, could of been the stress, the fight, the run they did, what ever prior to being tased. Innocent people don't just get tased by cops for the fun of it... you have to warrant such action.

Also stop trying to compare totally unrelated items and then make them similar when they are not.. your smarter than that and don't have to resort to such tactics to win your argument.

By the way the TASER does not effect the heart... according to taser.

In your original post on the matter you said "Oh and no one has ever died from a taser shot.. find me case law that says otherwise.". You took what they said and regurgitated it as fact. Only later did you mention it was what they told you. You then, in fallowing post, basically said that they probably have cause a few deaths. Despite that, because of the company legal stand point (A standpoint purely for the benefit of the company) you said your original statement stands. A argument based on semantics... again. What i see is a person who is incapable of accepting the fact they might have been wrong. A person who finds it extremely difficult if not imposable to accept any humility. The fact that your going to be a cop scares me. Though it doesn't surprise me.

"Innocent people don't just get tased by cops for the fun of it..."

Yes they do. It happens all the time.

I never said They caused any deaths.. redwood I don't care. I do stand by the statement that no one has died from a Taser, it is the company line.. there is no case law that says that a person has died from being tased. So therefore my original statement holds true. even the Wiki someone used proves that.. just because you claim there has does mean there has, just because I say there hasn't does not mean there hasn't.. you're problem is you want to make this a you versus me thing.. you want to make it personal.. all I am, saying is what I learned in school.. if that is wrong then prove that info wrong. You can claim semantics all you like, seems that is your weak ass argument for everything. So please if you can prove the company wrong do, so, and then sue them to put what you think the truth is out there in classes like mine..

Prove it..

(NOTE- the Burden of proof does not lie with me, I am not making the accusations. You are.. so prove it.)

Ok, here
http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/07/22/taser.death/index.html

Perhaps the most telling line,
"Curry [police spokesman] said Pikes told officers he suffered from asthma and had been using PCP and crack cocaine. But Williams [doctor who examined the body] said he found no sign of drug use in the autopsy, and no record of asthma in Pikes' medical history."

The coroner, the new york city medical examiner, and another nationally renowned forensic pathologist all did investigations say the same thing - the taser killed him. The police officer and taser corporation say it didn't. Who are you going to believe...

I'm not trying to make this a "me vs you thing". I wasn't even entering the debate. I made a statement at you. Iv learned not to enter debates with people of your personalty type.
I pity your family and the citizens of TX that are not extreme right wingers and or bible thumpers.

Hah, wow; I'm not surprised something like that happened in WINNFIELD, Louisiana as the article states.

I drive through there whenever I move to school. Winnfield is a pretty small town and the cops there get pretty board often. It's just 30 minutes from where I attend university.

Back to topic with a relevant comment -> Personally I'm glad tasers are in use. A gun-shot to the body has a higher chance of killing someone than a taser does. Even taken on the individual basis that someone dies from a taser because of heart conditions, they would have surely died from a gunshot anywhere from the shock it causes.

Back to side topic -> I don't think anyones dis-owning the use of tasers Munhay, I think they're trying to point out that people have died from taser usage, and its not the 100% angelic tool that the police system/taser company make it out to be.

Hey no need to make this personal. I'm sure that Muhnay is a good person in real life, he just has a disagreement over the facts about tasers.

Yeah when tasers are used instead of guns that's great. However the problem is when they are used as an "I don't like you so here is some pain" device.

I'm sure he's a decent enough guy. I just I would never have someone of that personalty type work in law enforcement. "I am the law!"

What bothers me more than anything is when people/members feel the necessity to begin comments in this way. Money has made it so uncomfortable for members to reply to things that they feel berated before they have even hit the REPLY button.

The fact that he almost always posts either stupidly, or stupid period not with standing, why does he force people to take the apologetic stance to reply to anything he posts?

Whether this is "OPEN" or "PUBLIC" isn't nearly as important as the ability to feel like you may say anything you wish. (within reason of course.. EVERYONE has the right to disagree/agree without the need to feel like you're supposed to say you're sorry in advance.)

As for trolling... With so small a reply base, the options for replying are somewhat limited to say the least. The fact that Money has said no less than a dozen stupid things in this one thread is amazing, but well within his character/personality so that IMO is not trolling, just a bunch of "noticing" that he is doing it.

IMO, his comments about Riven, were totally uncalled for and some serious thought as to an apology is in order.

As for being shocked, IT FUCKING HURTS. /nuff said. smiley

My favorite taser related media was in this episode of Mythbusters. They used a myth that began on CSI.

But they showed that, with enough pepper spray then using a taser you can actually light the person on fire! Of course, the amount of pepper spray is ridiculous, but it was pretty cool to see, none the less.
