What is you professional field or major?>>

I'll try to make this broad as possible. If you have not or will not attend a university just list what you might want to study if you did, what your current profession is, or simply what you are most interested in.>>

Category definitions:>>

Physical Sciences: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics... ect.>>

Social Sciences: Philosophy, Psychology, Anthropology, History... ect.>>

Engineering: Electrical, Mechanical, Software... ect.>>

Arts: Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Game Design, Music, Writing... ect.>>

Technical Trade: Construction, Welding, Auto Mechanic, Electrician... ect.>>

The last is self explanatory.>>

Not trying to beat a dead horse or anything, but your poll otions here are not as well laid out as your last one lol.

I mean, honestly. In my field alone, I had to select Engineering, but I cover almost all of the fields mentioned by mandate of my major. (The Art and Tech. Trade are electives , Not to mention game design really wouldn't fall under Art...)

Nonetheless, I suppose you still get a good idea of what people are doing....pffft, art.

just kidding! [addsig]

I know, but with only six poll options what can I do? in terms of game design, I really meant the graphic side, modeling, animation, ect. not the codeing. that I would think would fall under engineering. [addsig]

That usually means a mySQL bug Kain. You shouldn't see it every time. Probably the tables just screwed up temporarily :/

Bah. My academic interests are maths and philosophy, and my forthcoming occupation is writing. Your categories don't suit me

And you really like the word "demographics"

personally, i find this poll distasteful.. it assumes we all are smart, or had the opportunity to attend higher learning.

i chose at 19 to get married, and begin a family, a choice i do not regret, but it had its tolls.. school was not among my priorities.

you left no choice for people in my categorie.. this poll is skewed.

Then pick #6 Orph...

why?

my skills exceed most of the members here,in the fields i know something of.. my point was i didn't learn them in school.

there is nothing truly wrong with this poll, other than it insinuates that higher learning stems from one source.. at least thats how i read it.

my father -in-law went only to the 3rd grade in school, but could outwit many here if you were to stick to his sphere of influence.. i just found this poll skewed and commented my feelings.. i will not chose from any of the 6 choices.

Jesus H. Christ, if you're so smart then stop bitching about a bloody internet poll that means practically nothing to anyone

hmm maybe if it were a subject you chose.. get laid or something lep, you are in one of your moods again today, and its annoying as hell to say the least.

i didn't say anything wrong, just that the poll could have better represented everyone.

for what its worth, we are NOT going to discuss religion, just to appease you and your sense of whats worthy to debate.

There ya go Orph. Surely you have an interest in one of these fields, or as a profession? No one said it had to be academic subject. [addsig]

What is it then?

The whole point of this was merely my curiosity as too the genreal leanings of our members. for instance, are most of us computer geeks, or artists? I'm trying to get a definitve feel for the type of person who is drawn to mapping in relation to their other intrests.

You can't say philosophy is a social subject, because it applies to everything and anything. not just societal issues. Philosophy is philosophy, just like science is science, and art is art. You probably could say it's form of science, but then again you could say science is a form of philosophy; the same thing, but with more focus on empirical evidence. There's philosophy of art, social and political philosophy, religious philosophy, I could go on and on. [addsig]
