Aaah graphics problems, and I haven't done anything! In the last couple of days my screen has sometimes come up with little corrupted 'patches', with the screen sometimes going black for about half a second. Seems directX games also don't work properly- here's an example of what happens when I open UT:

And Half-Life just causes my PC to lock up. When I run dxdiag and try a Direct3D test, the problem turns up on the 2nd test (testing DirectX 8 thingies). So I tried reinstalling DirectX (9b), and the dxdiag 'files' tab doesn't tell me anything is wrong, and I have even restored my system to about a week ago before the problem turned up, but am still getting the same problem. Running WinXP on a P4 1.5ghz machine, 512mb rambus, GeForce4 Ti 4200- everything patched up, virus check performed, and no problems I can see. Problem still happens after changing refresh rates, colour depth, windows graphics settings, etc...
So, er, anyone had a similar problem? The card isn't that old- probably a year?- but is it likely to be it being on it's last legs, and in need of an upgrade? (I'm still at uni so can't try a different card or anything) Or any suggestions..?
