We all like new maps right?
well quite a few off the maps ive seen have no pics, now how people rate them if there are no pics, not even one!

What this vote is for is to get it that....people have to add pics for their maps.[in screen shots of their maps]

it doesnt take that long to take a screen shot in :enter level editor here: and post it.

The whole point of uploading screenshots is so that you have some idea of what you're going to be playing, Asthetically of course.

If you don't put up screenshots to try to 'sell' us your map, then why would we take anytime to look through it if you didn't take time to show it to us? But other then that, I've downloaded maps before (not from here) based on description and the only reason I can think of as to why there were no screen shots is that they were some of the most God aweful maps I've ever played.
If you did a good job on your map, you should be proud to put up screens, if you don't put up screens, I for one wonder how good your map really is if you refuse to show it unless it's downloaded. [addsig]

No, people shouldn't be required to put up screens. However, what I do think is that they should at least either have a screenshot or a download link. Having neither and sticking up a map with just a descrtiption is pointless IMO. Its annoying to see maps that only have a description clogging up the new maps side menu.

So really, I vote that a map requires either a download link or a screenshot to be added to someone's profile. If they don't have either, then no map. [addsig]

But it's also there to let people know you're working on a map and haven't got to the point where you can provide a download/screenshots... I'll have a think and see if I can do this (easily) though.

You shouldnt have to add screenshots. Big Scientists got 150 downloads without any screenshots

Maybe a system where you can add maps without screens or DL link, but they dont appear in the "newest maps" sidebar thing.

In mozilla the longest poll bar has the number of votes below the bar instead of at the end, becuase the text for the options isn't wrapped.

Good lord man, don't do that, Paint is horrible at saving JPGs- they're low quality and large file size

I'd go on the internet and look for some, there's probably a GIMP binary you can use with Windows

Yeah, GIMP is basically a clunky nearly as powerful as Photoshop open source image manipulation program.

The site is www.gimp.org (you have to find the Windows version, it's easy.. but it's primarily a *nix "product")

There's nothing wrong with GIMP. It actually does some things better then Photoshop, with the airbrushtool (even though this isn't what a normal airbrush does) you can usually give a pretty good pain effect in GIMP. You can in Photoshop as well, but it takes more work.

And yeah, they have win32 installs.

The GTK+ 1.3 Run Time Environment (ZIP file)

Windows Install: GIMP 1.2.5 (ZIP file)

GIF Plug-In (ZIP file)

When you download the gif plug-in be aware that if you don't live in the US the patent on GIF format may still be valid in your country, so you could be prosicuted if you use it incorrectly (You should be fine though.)

Download those in that order and GIMP will be up in no time

.....I can't remember if anyone actually asked for it, oh well.

[EDIT/Note]
I can't spell very well right now...prosicute....God.
[/EDIT/Note]

[EDIT: The Sequel]
I forgot to mention, in GIMP, I've personally found that my tablet has smoother edges and straighter lines (while using the airbrush tool) then in Photoshop or Painter.

Isn't the gimp a bit overkill for resizing and jpg-ing a few images? A simpler program would be irfanview.com or xat.com

Yeah. ..... I didn't really read what people were saying, I just saw people saying they didn't know where they could get it for Windows....by all means, even Photoshop at times is overkill for re-sizing images, since it has noticable load time. [addsig]

prosecute, sucka.

Oh yeah, the SPLA map thread wouldn't have been allowed to start if we required either a download link or a screenshot. I say, leave it as is, but if you see just another map with nothing to it, then maybe kindly remind them that we'd like to see whatever it is they're posting about. [addsig]
