Hey guys! It's been a while since I've posted here though I do lurk around from time to time... hope everyone is well smiley

I whipped this up on my spare time, it's an Android game called Chopper. It's pretty much classic Copter gameplay but I'm wanting to expand the game a bit more, at the moment I'm thinking of adding different types of “missions” and more interesting obstacles to avoid. What do you guys think?

If you're interested you can get it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.azzazazza.chopper

Hey!

Good to hear from you again, I've been fine. Right now I am in a train on my way to home from an excursion from school. It's a long trip so I'll play it for a bit now, I'll let you know if it helped me kill the time smiley

I played it for quite a few times and I must say it's a pretty fun game, although it feels incomplete (But I think you kind of said already that it is).

Here's a few of my ideas I'd like to see in an update:

Unlockable levels (or even other unlockables like different helicopters): You would unlock levels (or something else) by completing missions, like hitting the 3000m line.

Highscore with names: It would be funny to play the game with my brother or my friends and to have them write down their name so we could compare scores and go for the best score.

Power-ups: Like, skip 200 meters; extra life (Very rare - if you hit a building it will make your chopper blink like in the mario games and when the blinking is over you are vulnerable again); fly slower for 10 seconds etc.

I also noticed that after a while (3,5km or so) it is sometimes impossible to dodge buildings, because they are too close to each other to be able to get past them.

I hope this helps! I hope to see an update soon smiley

I found a bug: If you turn off the screen (doesn't matter if the game is paused) and turn it back on again after a while, you will have suddenly passed lots of meters. I was suddenly at 9000 meters by accident

Thanks for the feedback Nib smiley

I've been thinking about adding levels, an online leaderboard and items/upgrades for a while and will eventually get to them. I'm already working on another update and hopefully I can get that out in the next two weeks. smiley

Good point! I've also noticed the same problem with Jetpack Joyride. One of the things about the original Copter game I liked was it was never impossible to dodge an obstacle so it was always your fault if you crashed. I think ultimately I'm going to have to strike up a good balance here because I:
a) Thing that it's good you travel faster as you get further (but there is a limit to how fast it speeds up)
b) Don't think it's good to make the steering more sensitive to compensate for the faster travel
c) Don't like that it gets to the point where you might not have enough time to dodge an obstacle.
That said I will say there is a strategy, generally if you stay in the top half of the sky you will be better off as most obstacles especially the ones that take up a lot of vertical space are at the bottom. smiley

Whoa that's weird! I'll look into it thanks Nib! smiley

Cool, I used to love that old game. you should make a modern version of the game SOPWITH while your at it. It was similar to chopper but had a bi-plane. If you could select modern or original graphics that would really make a cool feature.

I love the newest version of the game, it's much better already.

I'm playing this every day in the long train rides, and I just can't manage to get past the 6500 meters, I have completed every other objective already. My personal record is 6200 meters without armor smiley
