Hello everyone smiley

Just thought I'd stop by and say hi to everyone, check how the community is doing. I'm very deeply stuck in studies, work, and sport, so computers rarely get any more attention apart from lecture readings and recordings.

Can somebody update me on the latest happenings at Valve? I've been checking every few days or so for any Half-Life related news, but nothing yet it seems.

Greetings to all members old and new, and,

Speak again soon smiley

Welcome back! I can understand the messiness of life. Darn life getting in the way of computers and Valve!

Ya, it's been pretty flat-line, both in terms of Valve news and the community as a whole. Steam is powering through, but just occasional updates from hardware deals and game items.

Maybe someone else can elaborate for you. A good site to check out for the latest Valve news is:
http://lambdageneration.com/

I've been busy myself with work and travels. As you can see here, it's been pretty dullsville.

Heh, I still check back here from time to time, yeah, everything seems quiet on the valve front! I check back here out of nostalgia really, I remember registering on this website when I was 13 or 14 and had recently discovered "World Craft" as it was called back then on the Half-Life CD! I don't know about Half-life 3 man. I wonder what Valve are up to!

Thanks Riven! I've been checking up on Valvetime.net occasionally, but I've never heard of LambdaGeneration (*bookmarks page).

Ah yes, the good old days when I used to map. That's exactly how I found out about Hammer editor, back when it was World Craft, and hidden in the HL CD. And being a severe perfectionist, I'd spend days on a single room/corridor, and never get any map completed smiley

Completing a map is the hardest thing for me. There are many things harder that I work on every day, but coming back to level design and building a map, and finishing one, brings out the uber-perfectionist in me like no other hobby/job. Maybe something to do with my childhood, where I too started with World Craft and looked at what other mappers were accomplishing. It really did make you want to sit there and like you said Dedi: spend days on a single corridor.
