Sometime between Christmas and now, something changed.
My Doom 3 bfg no longer works.
I have checked every link I can find and tried every solution suggested and nothing fixes it.
If you click the game icon, the game loads. It plays its intro and gets you to the "New Game" "Load Saved Game" screen.
No matter if you press new, or load a save, the game kicks you out and says doom has stopped working.
Anyone have a solution?
I have the newest video drivers for ATI.

Times were that even if a person had no answer they would commiserate with you. This place really has sunk to a new low. :'(

Maybe the new video drivers are what broke the game? That happens on very rare cases, but since I do not own Doom 3 I can't tell.

Try and copy your save games to a separate folder and do a reinstall.
I know what you're saying about the lack of activity around here, I just posted a bunch of new (last two years) HLDM maps (screenshots only so far). Not a single post/question or anything. I've received a lot of good feedback on the maps while running on various servers. Would be nice to have some communication with fellow mappers other than on the steam friends chat. There still is several HLDM mappers out there, I know because we chat, email maps and betas back and forth regularly. Just seems no one is interested in making contact on the snarkpit forums.
Ok, now that I mildly high jacked your thread, try and re-install the game, I hope that helps because that's a pretty awesome game to play late at night. I like to turn the HUD/GUI display off including the crosshairs, that really makes it interesting.
I'll be around, I haven't given up on the Snarkpit yet.

I seldom even have time for video games anymore. I don't beleive I even have Doom 3 installed. My suggestion (Basically what Grim suggets): Backup your saves. Uninstall the game through the add/remove programs interface. Then delete C:program filesdoom3 folder to make sure that all traces of Doom3 are gone. Reinstall the game and go from there. If at the end of the day it still doesn't work, try applying some of the patches they've released: http://doom3.filefront.com/file/DOOM_3_Patch;76460

For clarity:
The original Doom 3 was a regular game.
The new BFG is a steam game.
Does your suggestion still hold true?

I would think so. You can right click on the game in your "library" list and select to remove all local content. Then just reinstall it. I would try and copy out the save games before though.
Edit: I just checked out Doom BFG in the steam "store". It looks like a pretty cool set of games. How does doom and doom 2 run on your PC?
