it kicks ass. the Onslaught mode stuff has the same addictive quality TFC had for me, except with more action and lots of crazy vehicles. in some ways it's even more team oriented than other games, despite being faster, because you need to help teammates by linking to make/heal nodes faster, giving people rides, etc. And the voice chat is excellent, very well integrated.

you can do other neat stuff... I have been putting a bunch of sticky grenades on the front of the jeep, then ramming it into tanks or power nodes and setting them off for some major damage (you can dive out at the last second of course). ramping vehicles is fun, too, I spent about an hour on one map just doing stunts.

The Leviathan is just... amazing... it's bigger than 4 or 5 tanks, and transforms into a huge ion cannon. you can hear it charging and firing far in the distance, it's scary as hell. and in normal vehicle mode 5 people can ride in it; one driver manning the main rocket batteries, and 4 others manning the turrets. it is quite literally a mobile fortress.

neat effect I noticed on that map in the pic, too... there are shadows from the clouds that you can see moving across the ground. really nice.

To be honest, it's pretty okay - WC is right though, the original UT's gameplay was a masterpiece; UT2k3 and 2k4 completely fail to replicate that gameplay, and end up with something much worse, which says to me that they just got lucky in creating something so fun.

Graphically, it is nothing special in terms of sheer skill of craftstmanship, save for some absolutely jaw-dropping skies. Most of the maps are just empty expanses or uglier small arenas; the texture work only proves that the resolution of a texture is not proportional to how good it is. The detail texturing is horrendous - hugely repetitive and looks terrible up close.

I agree ... but I think I'll stick to TFC ... never liked UT In the first place.

I've got my raincheck from Best Buy for the Special Edition so I'll get it for $30 instead of the standard $60 for it when they get their next shipment in.

Personally I feel 2k3 and 2k4 surpassed UT, the original was more fun SP than MP, but the sequels were a lot more fun in both categories. Still, none pass AHL nor Enemy Territory, and I'm getting 2k4 for AUT and to learn more about how to make stuff with the engine.

I won't bother with the full game until I have a comp that can run the demo decently.
