I like the RE movie, I don't know why. As I've said it many times before. There are no really good aspects of the movie (Except the director, he is a good director, it was mostly the focus of the story). And I'm also looking forward to RE: Apocalypse ... not sure why lol. But I'm sure I'll like it, even if it isn't great. [addsig]

RE wasn't that great but it was as horrible as I was expecting therefore I was almost satisfied lol.
still want to see House of the Dead, that's supposed to be horrible. ![]()
American McGee's Alice is supposedly being made into a film- cgi one directed by Wes Craven last I heard. Not sure if it fell through or what, but it has potential, I loved the world in that game.
Metroid could be good if it was done well. mmmm... real life Samus.. *drool*

Oh, God! What a bad director. (Yes, Craven is a terrible director)

That would kick so much ass.
Oh, also, I personally think a tweaked version of the Hitman story line would be pretty bad ass as well. [addsig]

I thought the game did a pretty good job of being a movie

Pah, most of the good ones have been used.... so I'll just repeat the ones I'd go see.......
Doom: A beefed up Kevin Spacey as the Marine.
Half-Life: Charlie Sheen as Gordon. He did a really crappy movie regarding aliens where he looked a lot like Gordon, so it'll work out well.
Morrowind: Purely because Morrowind, as a movie, would be some hard-core trippy s**t. "wtf, walking cat people with swords!?" Good luck writing a coherent screenplay, though. ![]()

However, something I don't think many people here are realizing, the ones who suggest Half-Life anyway, is that, specifically for HL, there would be so many things that would need to be changed. There's absolutly no character development in the entire game, it would be one of those movies you see that have, in theory, a really complex plot, but it gets dumbed down by action.
The over all story line would have to be ripped apart and carfully pieced back together to resemble anything close to good story telling. The way it is now works as a game, but it would need some major tweaking, even if you include all the add-ons as part of the story, which I wouldn't accept a HL movie as HL if it didn't have Opposing Force in the story line.
Charlie Sheen, by the way, is a terrible actor, however, you're right, he looks like Gordon, but then again, so does Danny Badaduchi

Not Unreal2. Not the mission pack. Just plain old Unreal.

I'm not sure if Half-Life is movieworthy. Its a great game, with a good storyline, however I dont think the story would translate well to a movie.
And anyway, who would play Walter Bennett?

Like the game "Street Fighter: The Movie"? Oh dear god, how did that EVER happen...
I guess Splinter Cell could work as a film, but they would need to work on more non-action sequences - other than radio chatter there is no character interaction.

What are you talking about? Unless that movie is like High Fidelity or Magnolia or something, it would be great.
A Gear Box production: High Fidelity...THE GAME. Smash in Tim Robbins's face with ANYTHING, in completely INTERACTIVE environments ...
Anyway, something that would make an AWESOME transition to game (In my opinion) would be Enemy at the Gates. So would Terminator, but they just can't seem to make the game properly, I don't know why.
I've noticed that small development teams usually reach and grab for movie conversions and they never really deliver. I mean, I enjoyed Enter The Matrix, because I thought it was fun for the most part. But, it wasn't a great game. (It was actually A LOT better when it didn't install properly, so I didn't have the arrow telling me where to go

...Dear God I don't know. What a bad movie, what a bad game. I feel bad for Raul Julia since that was his last role before he died
He was a DAMN good actor. [addsig]

Was it toying with them or what? Oh, and there's that big trap door in the train. WHY?! ). And don't forget the fact that everything was either made of shiny aluminum or concrete. |
conserving energy?
train line maintenance?
and you try and make a giant lab under a city, what would you use? id use cottencandy!
what about Rainbow 6? or would there be a load of hastle with the book?
Posted by ReNo on Tue Mar 23rd at 7:32pm 2004
Well the book could be made into a film better than the game I reckon - if you are talking about the first one that is. Tom Clancy books often make decent enough crossovers to films, so R6 would stand a chance. I think its perhaps a bit long but book to film conversions always have that problem tbh.
