Wow, you people need to stop bitching about stuff. There's a grand total of 3 steps in this history that deal only with United States history: Taxation, Emanipation Proclamation, and Resignation.

If you want a fight, bring it.

Don't forget Discrimination.

Sexual reproduction. Fossilization. Land exploration. Dinosaur extinction. Mammal expansion. Homo sapiens manifestation. Animal domestication. Food surplus production. Civilization! Innovation. Exploration. Religion. Warring nations. Empire creation and destruction. Exploration. Colonization. Taxation without representation. Revolution. Constitution. Election. Expansion. Industrialization. Rebellion. Emancipation Proclamation. Invention. Mass production. Urbanization. Immigration. World conflagration. League of Nations. Suffrage extension. Depression. World conflagration. Fission explosions. United Nations. Space exploration. Assassinations. Lunar excursions. Resignation. Computerization. World Trade Organization. Internet expansion. Composition. Extrapolation?

Some of these last parts are completely the wrong way round.. particuarly invention, which seems to have graced us with its presence just about the same time cars came about... dodgy

Because no one on the face of the earth has faced discrimination before or after the African Americans in the United States?

I blame the Dutch; they were the ones who started the slave trade, and I blame the Spanish for setting the precedent on Indian policy by wiping out the Arawaks. In fact, I'm going to blame the British for even setting up the American colonies, if it weren't for them, the US wouldn't be such a s**thole.

AND I'm going to blame the Welsh for allowing themselves to be dominated by the English, helping them to spread their hegemony across the globe. Have you no shame!

I think the point being made was that there was slavery a very long time before all that...

personally, if people are going to make a point of expressing 200 years as "only" then all i can say is "WOW..200 years and everyone wants to be just like us"

jeeze guys, get over it will'ya? if the US and its defects truly dominate so much of your days, you truly need medical help.. I LIVE HERE and it doesn't consume my days as much as you whiners who don't

I do believe that most of Europe outlawed slavery and stopped supporting it like two decades before the US Civil War, so they all ended slavery round the same time.

And Orph, I think most people in this thread are joking. I know most of what I posted was in jest.

yeah, and so am i bud, as you of all should know.. i don't think, in the 5 years i have known you, that i have had issues with this topic..

i do find it humorous to the extreme, that so many people have there lives consumed by America and its defects..

anyways.. i was pokin fun at the "ONLY 200" part.. i am still giggling about it, cause the only can be construed as monumental, not harrowing, by people like me

Not sure what point you are trying to make as this statement seems to contradict itself. Just thought I'd add that slavery was popular in africa long before all that.

Actually, I heard far more Africans were shipped out to the Middle East (for Jewish people, I think) centuries before us evil Westerners showed up :/

The point I was making was 'no s**t, slavery's been around since practically the dawn of time, but it ended in the main industrialized nations around the same time'. Which means putting it where it is in the story of the universe makes sense (since a lot of people suddenly saw slavery as a bad thing and decided to abolish it.)

ok I agree on that. I didn't understand your earlier post. However the events here on earth are but a grain of sand when compared to the entire universe.

Don't turn it around. I'm not obsessed with what america does at all. But I won't say nothing when you seem to think it's reasonable to think that america invented and solved most of the social and political problems that have faced the world, when yes, america has 'only' been around for 200 years. Orph - what are these countires that are trying to be like america? I don't see any.

how about this jeff.. i refuse to prove my point

how about you, being as tunnel visionary as you are, post some countries who are not.. and i mean 1st world countries, don't go posting zimbabwe for petes sake

its about time, you take center stage on a topic, you have a really annoying habit of forcing others to center, if you cannot do it, then you are the one whom failed this time..

no fair cheating either, don't go recruiting other pitters to your cause.. you, jeffery, put your money where your text is.

do i,see carbon copies of the USA?? not on your life.

do i however, see emulations of it, every f**king day, and more each day.

also, i personally am not talking about political stances either, just in case you are, i am referring to the "way" americans live, the white picket fences, the 2 cars in the garage, and the credit card debts that will last unto our grand children... i see it.. so should you.

however, this is your chance.. lets see if you can meet your own expectations
