i knew you couldn't do it :/
OK, lets make it simple on poor Jeff, name 5 things unique to your country, things not American.
s**t Jeff, you are the one who seems hell bent on differences not i.. i didn't make a big deal about how America is only 200 and such... i couldn't give a rats ass if the UK became independent from the US totally
seriously tho, if you cannot convince me of the differences, then that must mean similarities exist.
remember this tho, this is YOUR discussion, i couldn't care less, my explaining myself, doesn't lend credence, nor retract from it either..
convince me Jeff, convince us all that the UK is more different, than the same as the US, then we can discuss whom copied whom ![]()
maybe, the bottom line is, the US is hell bent on copying everyone else
we are just so f**king good at it that it appears as if everyone else is doing it instead ![]()
[edit] let me clarify this jeff, the 5 unique things, must be within the last 200 years, cause before that, goes beyond this discussion.

Explain to me how I failed to answer your question. You would have preffered it if I had posted a big list of every country?
? quote:
name 5 things unique to your country, things not American
Oh my god, you really don't get it do you! Whether we do things that are the same as some of the things you do is completely irrelevant. You are claiming that anything we do here that has been done in america, we are only doing it to try and copy/be like you! This notion is completely rediculous!! I am not claiming that there is nothing in the UK that is the same as something in america, I am telling you that the similarities are not because us in the UK, or people in any other country, want to be like america! Is this that hard a concept to grasp? That perhaps people who aren't in america don't want to turn their country into a copy of america?
But obviously you won't accept anything I have said unless I give an answer to your pointless question. What have we done over here that wasn't just copying america in the last 200 years (as I type this I can't believe how rediculous a question this is)... well... what about everything that has been invented here?
Theres the elctric motor. Or Depth charges, lightbulbs, jet engines, penicillin, submarines, radio, vacuum cleaners, the pointless list goes on and on. But I am not so foolish that I think you use these things in america to try and be like the UK, as this is a completely rediculous idea.
I'm sure you use lightbulbs in every day life Orph. You are not doing this to try and be like somebody from the UK any more than I am trying to copy america if I were to buy two cars and put them in a garage. Can't you see how much of a rediculous idea this is?

sadly, you failed again Jeff, and as usual blamed your shortcomings upon me.
again let me stress this, I DON'T GIVE A RATS ASS WHOM COPIED WHOM.
all i am saying is similarities do exist, the persons whom seem to think its important of WHO, is people like YOU.
still you cannot goad me into a debate, because the priorities just are not there, we can and do discuss things i feel important enough to debate, but this topic *insert razz sound here*
Jeff, again lemme say, you failed miserably once more, you my friend are much like osmosis, you filter out the pieces you want, or THINK are relevant, to a point to where the actual topic no longer resembles my post at all. and much like osmosis, the filter you have works only in one direction, you fail miserably when it comes to new concepts, or stranger ones than you are used to hearing.
do yourself a favor, re-read my word, ZONE IN on the parts where i say, ITS NOT IMPORTANT, and you will have a much better day.
face it Jeff, you and i play on different fields, and yours will never look like mine nor mine yours.. your priority system just is way to weird for me.. and your methods of debating them are worse still.
till you can talk, or think like i do, you will lose every debate we have, at least so far as winning me over to your side. get a handle on things Jeff, and get back to me when something really important peaks your interests, cause this and other mundane issues like it... are a waste of MY TIME, and yours.
my advice, stop filtering my posts till they say what you want to hear, i wrote them all at once, i FULLY expect you to read them AND comprehend them that way as well :/
have a nice day Jeff.. I'm done with this subject, it already exceeded my daily allowance of absurdity :/

Right. So that's why you were saying everybody tries to emulate america? You say you don't care 'who copies who', whatever. I am saying nobody is copying anybody. People just do what they want, and if it happens to have already been done somewhere else, it doesn't mean anything at all.
Now, I picked the big part in all capitals at the start of your post - I hope I'm not drawing on the parts you didn't see as important.

fine then, no one copied no one, its all co-evolution at its best ![]()

you just broke away because you foresaw the future that the UK would turn into a binge drinking one party state (labour, who somehow remain in power!?)

Err, you ever heard of Athens, Greece?
and look what happened there.
as soon as the people had a freeer (how do you spell free-er) society, they soon turned to teh evil ways of drunkery. all the drunkeryness and debouchery and other bodily desires led to the invention of the donner-kebab. soon all the people wanted to worship the great kebab, and the once proud empire fell.
and now it's all happening again i tells ya..........
