I've got it but it won't load It gets as far as the CD check bit and then my computer hangs. When it finally wakes up again, it tells me to insert the correct CD (which I have!), and then continues to remove my CD drive from my system Strange... |
consider, locating the program "game drive"
also consider, locating the program "virtual CD"
both bypass many/all copy protections.. i cannot say it will work on this game, but i can vouch for many older ones.
i personally have virtual CD, it works fine.

I have been playing FC for two days now and am well into the game. I think that HL2 will have nothing further than this to offer graphically, save for the european setting versus tropical. Same with Doom3. I cant say for sure but I have a hunch I'm right. It's the same system really. Bump mapped textures to keep the polys down.
this guy was looking for me really hard!

super looking in game trust me. You can also knock these torpedoes off and kick em around. I hope they're duds!
I think alot of the HL2 and D3 textures will look just as plasticy simply because of the types of textures used. They will not be photo-realistic because they were created artificially. So except for the superior story line and hopefully superior multi-play(Gabe Newell has hinted at something big, but he has lost alot of credibility lately IMO) this game is a wonderful precursor to HL2. Gets you ready for whats coming.
(BTW, I get 25-75 FPS in game at mostly very high settings)

/r_displayinfo 1
also you can add -DEVMODE 1 to the command line in the shortcut. Also heres a list of tweaks and commands for the demos. Highly customizeable game.

I've got a GF4 TI4400, 1.5 Ghz proc., 512 megs DDR, and I was wondering if it would run decent with moderatly nice looking settings.
I was in a store yesterday and could have picked up a copy for abou 32 bucks, but I don't wanna get it yet if it's gonna run like crap. [addsig]

I have a GeForce4 FX 5200 w/ 64 MB, P4 2.6 GHz, and 512 MB DDR... AND FAR CRY LAGS EVEN AT THE LOWEST SETTINGS! This makes me sad.
BTW - I haven't bought the game yet I played the demo.

I have a P4 2.8cpu
Radeon 9700 Pro ALL-IN-WONDER
1 gig PC 2700 ram, I think thats your problem Skeletor.
I manage about 25 to 40 FPS in the most busy multiplay, and about 30 to 75 FPS in single play depending on whats going on.
Heres, the settings I use:
Renderer:Direct3d9
AA: lLow
Texture quality; Very high
Texture filter quality: Trilinear
Anisotropic Filtering: 2
Particle count: High
special effects: very high
Environment quality : Very high
shadow quality: High
water quality: Very High
Lighting Quality: Very high
The game feels a bit sluggish at times but I manage to make it through the levels so far on the realistic difficulty setting.

I got:
256MB Ram
Nivida Geforce 5600SE
18 gig Hard-Drive
1.5GHZ P4
I ran it all in low settings; but when I switched to medium, I got the same as I did in low (Frame-late and such).

Finally got the bugger running - though I had to d/l a nocd crack
Apparently the copy-protection goes as far as searching to see what programs you have installed and if any are black-marked by it, it simply wont load
Only software I have that could be remotely classed as 'dodgy' is Ahead Nero
Stupid stupid Ubisoft!
Oh, and if you're having trouble with performance, try changing the rendermode to 'OpenGL'...runs smooth as silk with all settings high for me, while in Direct3D it chugs even on medium settings.

It's a little over the top on Ubisofts' part though...not allowing you to run a game (that you payed for!), simply because you have a perfectly legitimate copy of Nero installed.
Great game though (even though it took me best part of a day to get it to load and then tweak the settings to my satisfaction
)
