I don't wholly agree with that, Crono. The 6th Sense at least has an atmosphere of creepyness, I suppose. Unbreakable wasn't the worst movie ever, it was at least intersting to me. Signs was pretty crappy, the logic behind the whole "swing away" bit was just offensive to me. I know the movie tried to focus on unintentional foreshadowing/coincidences in life, but that's a bit of a stretch for me.

This one just looked pretty. It had a nice environment built up *in theory.* I can imagine a very creepy experience coming from an isolated villiage surrounded by woods, cut off from all other societies, with beasts skulking around the outskirts. A good premise, but it doesn't hold at all in the film.

I'm a writer at heart, and as such I can really easily put myself into most situations and get inside characters heads, and can feel what they feel. In other words, it's hard for me NOT to get drawn into films and books. Now, I'm not saying that everyone should do this and judge his other films accordingly- but I could get into them, and I felt weirded out for a while when I was in them. This one is just a pile of drivel- even if you DO get into it it'll just shove you out with bizzare "twists" that don't make much sense. The other movies don't do this as badly.

Blargh. [addsig]

Unbreakable was his best movie. The ending was just a little short shot. Signs most definatly blew. And the 6th sense was entertaining ... once and only once.

I think he's getting worse as he goes. When you stoop to having a fake interview which is trying to be 'creepy' as a special on TV to pimp your new movie, which obviously sucks, is just a new low. [addsig]

Reign of Fire is a pretty poor movie but the hilarious ending "jump" makes up for it [addsig]

Pulp Fiction - recently watched. It's a shame I had to wait this long. Movie rocks, 'nuff said.

Saw King Arthur tonight, not bad but not great. I agree with whoever said it was trying to be an epic but simply failed. It didn't feel like a grand scale movie such as Troy or Gladiator at all. That said, it was entertaining, and it featured "teh hotie!!!1" Keira Knightley (albeit looking like a zombie for her introduction to the film) so it was probably worth watching. The fight on the ice was exciting and impressive, but most of the other battles were lacking, and the entire film didn't have enough momentous battles. The final fight didn't seem like it should be the end at all, I expected at least one more afterwards.

Meh, I tend to like most films, I enjoyed it despite its shortcomings.

Pretty poor swordfights actually, and the camera work takes the typical "make it shaky so people don't notice the lack of fighting abilities" approach to the extreme. Some nice sequences, particularly the ice fight, but otherwise rather...

Unimpressive - the American "epics" are far more awe-inspiring.

Uneventful - not enough battles, hints of character depth and development are under-developed.

Unoriginal - doesn't break any new ground, this is nothing new from the likes of Braveheart or Gladiator, both of which are better films.

Anyone else watch 'sex lives of the potato men'? I though it was funny enough in places. It's a bit strange though, but I suppose that's part of its charm.

It mightn't have made it over to the USA, it's an English film. It's very crude, but it's mostly implicit.

I loved The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Signs, to varying degrees. Not the best movies in the world, but I guess I just like the director's style. He really knows how to immerse people, I guess the people who slip below the radar are the ones who hate his movies.

And there's a reason you haven't heard of "Sex lives of the Potato Men". Its because apparently it's the worst british film ever. [addsig]

However, you can't bash Plan 9 too much, simply because Ed Wood (the movie) is awesome.

A lot of people have made insinuations that Tim Burton has an undying respect for Ed Wood Jr.

He made Ed Wood, a film (loosely) based on the life of Ed Wood Jr. Then Burton made his own catastrophe of a space movie, Mars Attacks. [addsig]
