This one just looked pretty. It had a nice environment built up *in theory.* I can imagine a very creepy experience coming from an isolated villiage surrounded by woods, cut off from all other societies, with beasts skulking around the outskirts. A good premise, but it doesn't hold at all in the film.
I'm a writer at heart, and as such I can really easily put myself into most situations and get inside characters heads, and can feel what they feel. In other words, it's hard for me NOT to get drawn into films and books. Now, I'm not saying that everyone should do this and judge his other films accordingly- but I could get into them, and I felt weirded out for a while when I was in them. This one is just a pile of drivel- even if you DO get into it it'll just shove you out with bizzare "twists" that don't make much sense. The other movies don't do this as badly.

I think he's getting worse as he goes. When you stoop to having a fake interview which is trying to be 'creepy' as a special on TV to pimp your new movie, which obviously sucks, is just a new low. [addsig]

Saw King Arthur tonight, not bad but not great. I agree with whoever said it was trying to be an epic but simply failed. It didn't feel like a grand scale movie such as Troy or Gladiator at all. That said, it was entertaining, and it featured "teh hotie!!!1" Keira Knightley (albeit looking like a zombie for her introduction to the film) so it was probably worth watching. The fight on the ice was exciting and impressive, but most of the other battles were lacking, and the entire film didn't have enough momentous battles. The final fight didn't seem like it should be the end at all, I expected at least one more afterwards.
Meh, I tend to like most films, I enjoyed it despite its shortcomings.

Pretty poor swordfights actually, and the camera work takes the typical "make it shaky so people don't notice the lack of fighting abilities" approach to the extreme. Some nice sequences, particularly the ice fight, but otherwise rather...
Unimpressive - the American "epics" are far more awe-inspiring.
Uneventful - not enough battles, hints of character depth and development are under-developed.
Unoriginal - doesn't break any new ground, this is nothing new from the likes of Braveheart or Gladiator, both of which are better films.

And there's a reason you haven't heard of "Sex lives of the Potato Men". Its because apparently it's the worst british film ever. [addsig]

A lot of people have made insinuations that Tim Burton has an undying respect for Ed Wood Jr.
He made Ed Wood, a film (loosely) based on the life of Ed Wood Jr. Then Burton made his own catastrophe of a space movie, Mars Attacks. [addsig]
