Saw 'Once Upon A Time In Mexico' last night. Paper thin plot and completely bonkers - but surprisingly entertaining!
Oh, and Salma Hayek was looking extremely trim in it ![]()
Off to the shops in a min to get Kill Bill Vol. 2, as i've not seen that yet.

AVP is a horrible horrible waste of a good idea. They had the chance to make up for Alien3, Alien:Resurrection, and Predator2 but blew it. Where are the colonial marines damnit? ![]()
The first half is so lame it's not even funny. I didn't care for any of the characters or even know their names, so if they died it didn't matter. I can't even tell you the main character's name! It wasn't scary. It wasn't even that much of an action movie, especially since the violence was so muted. By the end this turns into a big huge nerd fantasy, which is just lame.
You know you're in trouble when the old AVP computer game is scarier, more action-packed, and tells a story better. Whoever watches, you lose.

YOU FOUND OUT THEIR NAMES!!!!! I didnt even catch them, cause the movie moved so fast I had no time to get to know the characters...... so I didnt care if they died. In anycase the one thing that killed me was the ****spoilers**** woman and the preditor teamed up ****end spoilers**** I mean that stuff is what little kids like, im not dising cassius, but I didnt care for it, but i'll admit the ending was the best!

Yak, what you just described is exactly what the comics was like (with a little less character development). That movie was made purly to pit preditors against Aliens.
By the way, Preditor 2 didn't suck, it just wasn't has bad ass as the first one. And don't even go into the whole scare factor, Alien was the only movie in both series' that was remotly scary.
But to each his own. [addsig]

| You people are nuts, AVP was great. By the way, Alien 4 is the best Alien movie, it just has the worse ending in movie history ... pretty much skip to the credits after Ripply (2) falls into the pit of aliens and thats that. If they weren't trying to scare you, then why did they have about 6 different scenes where an alien lashed out with it's second mouth only to miss someone by mere inches?
And just because the comic book has poor character development doesn't mean the movie has to. Perhaps they could have strived to go beyond their source material?
SPOILER: The worst part is that the movie does feel like a nerd fantasy, especially with the girl 'becoming' a predator, killing an alien, being given a predator spear, and getting a spear and shield made out of an alien. I could imagine the loser who sat across the aisle and jumped at random scenes going "wow, she's living my dream!" I don't want to watch a nerd fantasy, I want to watch a badass movie where a Hicks/Arnold combo character yells "Get to the Choppah!" while dodging acid and plasmacasters, occasionally taking time out to blast things with a shotgun he keeps incase of close encounters...of course during this time there's a huge pitched battle between predators and aliens...can't forget that.

Why do action movies have scenes where the hero tries to defuse a bomb?
Its the same idea. I was never scared by any of those movies, especially not Aliens.
Yak, don't get me wrong I'm not trying to get you to like the movie or anything, but you're saying the movie sucked because it followed the comic book ... If you didn't like it, thats fine. What exactly did you expect in this movie besides some aliens fighting some preditors? [addsig]

Well, once I heard the premise of the movie, not much. However, if someone had said they were going to make a movie called Aliens VS Predator I'd have thought that it'd be like the computer game or a combination of the two franchises, not a comic book. I knew there was an AVP comic, but I've never read it or seen it so I didn't know that it had Antarctic temples and aliens on Earth. If this movie is like the comic then the comic must be hugely retarded as well.
Besides, the action wasn't that cool anyway.

Watched 'The Butterfly Effect' last night and enjoyed it. Was a little slow to start and Ashton Kuchter isn't the greatest actor around, but the plot far outweighed this. While there were slight element of Donnie Darko in there, I found the story to be though-provoking and a really interesting subject.
Right, going to either watch 'Kill Bill Vol.2' or start on my 'Harsh Realm' box set tonight ![]()
