a week cannot go by without some thin skinned member crying about my posting something they don't like

Well, if you really wanted to watch certain things, you can buy them online (or download them). The other really cool thing is, until someone releases the series in whatever country you're in, excluding Japan, obviously, it's perfectly legal to download and distribute the show. Movies usually have international copyrights from the get go. [addsig]

i think buying them is me best bet with 56k @ home.

Doesnt intenational copyright supposedly prevent downloads & distributes, even if theyre not released say here in Oz?

...Not with most anime, they get minimal license until they are funded overseas and in other countries (it would be too expensive otherwise). I have no idea where you are, so I couldn't really tell you... [addsig]

A while back I watched an anime where angels are coming down to earth and destroying stuff (I think because it was the apocolypse) and the humans are fighting them in giant robots. Just wondering since alot of people here are into anime... is this evengellian? If not does anybody know what I am describing?

I just watched Spirited Away and found it to be a really charming story with some amazing animation. Possibly a little twee in places but still spectacular never the less.

Kill Bill Volume 2 was bad ass and a wonderful ending to the story. I actually like volume 2 more then volume 1 ... even as good as volume 1 is. But they're both one movie anyway. [addsig]

Its by the same guy that did Princess Mononoke and Laputa (or Castle in the Sky, can't remember which is the main name) isn't it? If it is, I can imagine your comments being right on the spot. Typically they are perhaps a little too family friendly to normally appeal to my tastes, but I enjoyed both of those nonetheless, and will certainly watch Spirited Away when I get a chance. Does it actually make sense to split them up once you watch the second one? Because I have a feeling that it was done just for the hell of it. All they had to do was add a few filter scenes to get both movies to an optimum runng time, and thus both movies suffer (/me looks at the matrix sequels, which could have used some cutting and spliced into one movie). Not yet released here, dammit.

... please don't throw in any spoilers, I want to enjoy it to the max !

Ontopic: Besides the 'fancy' actors, "Troy" looks good too

No they work wonderfully as two movies. Also, it helps give it that EPIC Revenge feel.

I actually like the Matrix sequels. Not as much as the original by any means, but they are good. Reloaded needs editing (Rave, CG parts of Burley Brawl, Zion scene arangement) Revolutions doesn't need touching up at all, I think people just had a chip on their shoulder from Reloaded.

But yes they are essentially one movie ... however, would have sat there for 5+ hours watching it? I doubt it. Also, they were both edited differently. Revolutions was edited (If I'm not mistaken) by the 'Brothers' and Reloaded was mostly left up to the studio (thus the editing it has). They also wanted Reloaded to be hyped and Revolutions to just come out. Revolutions is what had the importance of the three movies, really. Secondly, I don't think anyone really has a right to say they did anything 'wrong' since it was their creation and they played it out how they saw fit. And that last scene in Revolutions, the Super Bruly Brawl I believe they called it, is only something that would be created out of passion for the story as directors, animators, and actors. A studio would not want to produce something like that. Revolutions cost so much money, it's rediculous, they literally used everything at their disposal, and I'm not talking about the CG bulls**t.

Anyway, that's my take on it.
Secondly, I heard that they were going to re-edit Reloaded and Revolutions to put the film footage from Enter The Matrix in ... but I don't think I could handle Reloaded if it were longer
But to be honest it needs a little tweaking and it would be wonderful ...

As for Kill Bill, Volume 1 had little character development except for The Bride and Oren. In volume 2 everyone is fleshed out and has depth brought into them. You find youself "understanding" why certain choices were made. By far Volume 2 is not a light hearted film, or at least not as light hearted as volume 1 was. However, if you're looking for the same amount of action that was in Volume 1 you wont find it in Volume 2, because that's simply not what it's about. But believe me, it surpasses the first half of the story.

But dammit, I want to see those scenes with David Carradine fighting and stuff ... they're in the trailors but not the films. Weird ... anyway, I've writen way too much in this post.

[EDIT]
Yeah, Troy looks bad ass. I think the one thing I'm looking forward too the most is watching Orlando Bloom die!! because he's a terrible actor. And taking that the movie is based on The Iliad, he dies. Everyone dies, almost.

By the way, that hunk of crap "I, Robot" looks like such utter crap I can't even imagine how bad it is.
[/EDIT] [addsig]

I checked out Kill Bill vol 2 over the weekend and I was definitely impressed. The whole beard grabbing that ancient teacher had going on was pretty nifty. It was a lot more Tarantino-esque, at least in my mind what counts as Tarantino-esque. At one point Carradine delivers the requisite over-analysis of some pop culture item. Tarantino's hit Top Gun and Like A Virgin, this time it's a far less graphic, but probably more situationally appropriate, tale of Superman.

On splitting the movies, I think the decision handed down was split it into two or make major cuts. Tarantino chose to split it. The division works fairly well, even though it follows a slightly non-linear storyline. Reservoir Dogs level, not anything like Memento or even Snatch. An extra "scene" was added to bridge the gap and remind you of what's gone down, but it's pretty much the black and white driving bit with the cheesy backdrop of Uma in the trailer. It works well for a prologue, definitely bringing you up to speed on what you need to know without a fifteen minute what-happened-last-time segment. Anyway, go and watch it. Great film with some truly memorable moments.
