i just finished re-watching "Reign Of fire" with my new surround sound stereo system.

watching movies with all the sounds makes it seem different. i admit, this movie is not one of my favorites, but it was enhanced with all those cool sounds

Over the last few nights i've watched The Garden State (very good!), Mimic (not bad, nice concept but a little hokey), and Mimic 2 (toilet fodder - nice continuation of the originals concept ballsed up completely).

Orph, since you know where to get all these TV progs from (i'm just starting to download Lost as i've read the reviews and it sounds brill), you wouldn't happen to know where I can get hold of season 2 of Jeremiah would you? I loved the first season but Sky One consigned it to 3.00am in the morning and never got round to the second season

"How to Draw a Rabbit" is a documentary about the life and death of Ray Johnson. He's a performance artist with a dadaist twist. It's an interesting film if you're into modern art and unconventional personalities, but otherwise the general audience should skip it and enjoy something more traditional instead.

I want to see the full cut. Apparently the UK version is uncut, and only 2 minutes are missing ... what the f**k was in those two minutes?

And what was up with Cary Elwes more s**tty then normal acting?

Watched The Day After Tomorrow last night, it was pretty good when it wasn't entirely ridiculous, i.e. the climate dropping 10 degrees a second, or perhaps the helicopters freezing entirely and crashing into the ground and then the pilot opens the door... so essentially the plot's amusingly horrible and the acting's more or less decent, 'specially from 'ol Jake Gyllenhaal. I finally watched "Van Helsing" tonight.. yeah a legit DVD people.

i have to say, i liked the new twist on the old tired dracula theme.

some of the scenes were a bit silly, but overall top notch viewing.

i'd recommend it.

I think "Van Helsing" is a GREAT GREAT GREAT movie. Awesome, too.
...and really good. I like how they mixed all the different types of monsters and Frankenstien's Monster was not a bad guy for once.

actually, the monster was portrayed as the good guy in almost every single movie. he was the good monster who has a bad accident with a child in most. i only recall one or two movies where he was bad, the rest was good. hell, go all the way back to boris karloff (i think thats spelled correctly) he was a good frankenstein.
