Candy was one of my favorites, i was actually sad to hear he died. the fact that it was due to his weight only made it more sad.

anywho's, yeah cash, they define comedy.

It has nothing to do with Mel Brooks, you, or anything like that. I just don't like that movie. [addsig]

The funniest moments in Space Balls all had Rick Moranis making a jack ass out of himself in that Vader spoof suit. Apart from that the movie fair blowed.

One of the best Mel Brooks movies in my opinion was Robin Hood: Men in Tights. That movie made me piss myself no matter how many times I watched it. Particularly the God Father spoof with Dom Deluise, you can't get much funnier than that.

My advice: DONT WATCH TROY

Troy was the sh*ttiest movie I've seen this year. Half the time Brad was naked and showing off his ass. The other half of the time he was wearing his short skirt showing off just below his ass.

It was also super sappy, just all around not a very good movie. They tried to give Pitt some sort of Matrix jump attack thing that looked really gay.

Please, spend your money on a better movie, not Troy. [addsig]

I don't think it was a bad film by any means - but I found it a difficult film to watch as I there were no clear-cut baddies or goodies. Who the hell are you supposed to root for? [addsig]

personally, i liked troy. it more/less followed the concept of the theme. i have read a bit on the time period, and the movie seems close to the lore.

still, whether it was close or not, i still liked it.

Doc, AvP was exactly what it should have been ... Aliens fighting Predators. Nothing more, nothing less. I'm just wondering what's cut out, since there was an original cut (severely longer) that was cut to make it PG-13. Supposedly there's an entire subplot gone (one of which explains the damn gestation period). I can understand why people don't like Paul W Anderson movies, he isn't anything great, but he just has a knack for making fun stuff to watch. Although, I think it's not warranted to compare Hero to Resident Evil Apocalypse :

well Crono-san, i never saw the movie in the theaters so i cant really comment on the cut parts....but there was a fairly lengthy section on the origins of the AvP war, with humans being basicly used as cattle to breed the aliens for hunting purposes by the predators,,,,this all supposedly started thousnads of years ago , when the predators came to earth, taught humans to build (ergo, the pyramid style, aztec, cambodian, and egyptian i believe)...and in turn they were worshiped as gods, ritual sacrifices and all......the door was left open at the end for a sequal (god forbid...lol) and all in all, i found it actually more entertaining than i thought i would....not bad for a s**tty "B" movie......

anyhow, there ya go.....

No, that was always there.

I like how you put B movie in quotes. Because, that thing took so much money to make. The one thing that really impresses me about AvP is that, apparently, there were absolutely no moving set pieces ... So, like all the moving pieces (except for the thing that brought up the Alien eggs) were CG.

I just wish that one alien didn't ruin 2 knock off predators. If the predators would have taken people's spines that would have been cool too. But.. actually, technically ... AvP was a comic book movie, because of the plot they chose to go with. I really hope Fox lets him release his full cut.

I was disappointed with Troy. It's by no means a poorly made movie, quote the opposite. But, I hate it when they there are simple things they could have done (which happen in what they're adapting) and they don't do them ... SUCH AS KILL ORLANDO BLOOM. That was the one thing I looked forward to ... and it doesn't happen. My friend was like, "Are you sure he dies" and I'm like, "Dude, EVERYONE in Troy dies". And what was that s**t, Ulysses BEING at Achilles' funeral? I think he forgot it takes him ten years to get home.

By the way, I don't care if I ruined anything for anyone by talking about these movies ... you shouldn't either. [addsig]

Am watching yet another of my rented flicks. I highly recommend the new version of "King Arthur".

Of all the past versions, this one actually looks realistically portrayed. No shiny armour, no invincible characters.

I am very glad i rented it, I almost skipped it because I was thinking "another one?"

also I would like to say, the movie "Sky Captain and the world of tomorrow" left me wanting. It just didn't do it for me. You know what its like, you buy a DC comic when you really wanted a Marvel. *shrugs*

? quoting Kage_Prototype
AVP was rubbish in my eyes. My expectations were low enough as it is (anything with Paul Anderson at the helm is destined to be rubbish), but it STILL couldn't reach them. No sense of pace or atmosphere, ridiculous script and acting, and a "matrix shot" of a facehugger jumping out of an egg. It sucked donkey balls. The only plus side was that the special effects were impressive, but they don't make a crap movie good.

They should have called AvP "Alien vs Predator vs Arnie". At the end when the Alien and Predator are fighting on the show, Arnie should have broken up through the ice and said one of his Simpsons McBain lines, "ice to see you", with chainguns in each hand obviously. That would have saved the movie in my eyes anyway.

Just seen Assault on Precinct 13 at the cinema. Some cool Counter-Strike moments in there but it descends into formulaic action movie fare by the end. Plus it doesn't have the soundtrack from the original.

Also watched Open Water last night (two divers, left behind in the sea, circled by sharks). Some of the camerawork is really amateurish and the scenes out of the water were unengaging, but I quite enjoyed the section were they're bobbing around in the sea in the middle of nowhere.

In Troy I thought Achilles' funeral was held inside Troy, hence why Odysseus (I assume thats who you were talking about right?) was there. I'm sure they wouldn't make QUITE such a huge oversight as to forget about his troublesome return home.
