Speaking of Guy Pearce:

  1. Memento
  2. Ravenous
  3. The Time Machine

All very good Guy Pearce films. He's underrated, ladies and gents.

The Time Machine is not so good after he goes into the FINAL future.
But, that has nothing to do with Mr. Pearce. Oh Guy.

You forgot L.A. Confidential. (And Count of Monte Cristo)

L.A. Confidential is phenomenal. One of my personal favorites (although I think Chinatown is better...).

(Moans inconsolably)

Damn this thread loads so slow.

Anyway, the grandma on the right hand side of the bed in the new Charley and the chocolate factory is my new hero. She is the embodiment of my time here at Snarkpit.

You mean she whines about screenshot size and gets mad all the time?

Why sure, aren't we just the joker. Missouri little piece of $%!+

No, I take it you have not seen it yet? She is in her own little world and no one else in the room seems to understand a word she says. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_lol.gif">

Seriously though, the Gene Wilder version seems a trifle better so far but then again, I am a big Wilder fan.

Thanks to the time it took for this thread to load, I had time to finish the last 2 loads of clothes and cook supper.

On a serious note, anyone watch Christmas with the Kranks?

It gives a whole new meaning to ungrateful busybodies. I know its supposed to be just a movie but its realism is scary as hell.

If you get a chance, watch something else first.

This thread has long surpassed the flaming snark status. I believe it deserves a whole-new, "engulfed in eternal flames of death" status.

At the very least a platter with the Snark dinner upon it. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_lol.gif">

I am currently watching "Kingdom of Heaven"

Liam Neeson has such a short part. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/sad.gif">

It is nice to see that Professor Lupin found a job after Hogwarts though. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

This thread does take a long time to load...

Anyway -- saw Written on the Wind (1957) last night... and I loved it. Rock Hudson is pretty f**king sweet.

Watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind again last night. It's my favorite love story by far... and perhaps my favorite movie in general. If you haven't seen it, go rent it now. It may be confusing, but bear with it. If you don't like it, we can't be friends anymore.

Just watches Chicken Little... better than I had expected. IT was pretty funny, but kinda short. I think it was only like 1:15, but it's still worth the watch.

I just watched Amores Perros the Mexican film nominated for an oscar and the winner of a bunch of other awards.

It was f**king intense. If you like animals, especially dogs, I don't think you can sit through it. I barely could.

Some of the ideas behind the movie were good, but the whole thing is so messed up and depressing I can't really recommend it to anyone else, and I kind of wish I hadn't watched it.

The family watched a few movies this week.

  • Kicking and screaming- 4/10
  • Christmas with the Kranks- 5/10
  • King Solomon's mines 2005 remake- 7/10
  • Amityville Horror 2005 remake- 6/10
  • High Tension- 7/10
  • Willy Wonka 2005 remake- 6/10
  • Kung Fu Hustle- 6/10
  • House of wax 2005 remake- 7/10
  • Kingdom of Heaven 9/10

Scores are subjective since I based them on who like it. I hate Will Ferrel and would score all his movies 0/10 so I posted the score of my family member who like his show.

Yes this is a lot of movies but, we rented them for 5 days. We didn't actually watch them all at once. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

Was Orlando Bloom bearable in Kingdom of Heaven? I just can't imagine him leading people into battle... he seems like such a wimp, so I never ended up watching that movie. Did you like it?

Yeah, he's actually good. I mean, it's Ridley Scott, do you think he'd accept a s**tty performance?

As for the movie, it's alright. It's better if you understand the point of the movie. (Which isn't obvious to a lot of people.)

It's one of those movies where it's like ... see it ... but ... judge for yourself. I know a lot of people who loved it ... I know a lot of people that didn't. It has an assload of history in it. It's dramatized a little bit, but for the most part true.

Liam Neeson rocks ... as always.

First I want to clarify that I have no religious beliefs to alter my view of the movie. Not having one might effect my view but having one other than the movies base would have seriously done damage I think.

I did not chose my online handle haphazardly. I favor movies that portray the underdog in a positive way.

The movie took a average, yet intelligent commoner and placed him in a position to make a difference in his small piece of the worlds events. His battle strategies and his charisma at getting almost everyone to die for him was well incorporated into the film. The character portrayed in the lead had such an open minded viewpoint that he actually got the respect of his future opponents before the conflict ever began. The act of simply giving a horse to someone he thought of as just another human being was one such an example.

The historical value, as previously mentioned is another nugget of gold in respect to encouraging one to watch the film.

I would rate this movie just short of the greats like "The Ten Commandments" and "Ben Hur" in its scope. The battle scenes alone were such as to move one to tears when you take into account the magnitude of the death tolls rendered. We are talking about a time period of or around the crusades. The worlds population was sparse at the time yet the battles involved 200,000 on one side and about 40,000 or so on the other. I am unsure about the actual numbers but when you think of how underpopulated the world was then its amazing to consider numbers of that scope.

If I were you, I'd watch it simply to see what all the hub bub is about. Then you can judge for yourself.

I didn't like how they didn't really go into Salah ah-Din much. He was a naturally respectful man and the only person in history to unite the entire muslim world. Something they hinted on, but didn't go into.
