I loved Lord of War. It's a pretty good story, and doesn't guilt you into thinking guns are horrible, nor firmly state that they're amazingly awesome- it draws the line somewhere in the middle and just portrays how the whole situation is, without really edging towards one side or another.

I was really worried it was going to be this huge anti-gun campaign, but it really isn't.

Sad little movie though.

I enjoyed it too, and one of Nicholas Cage's best performances for sure.

A couple of my buddies said the same thing, they thought it was a surprisingly good movie. I'll try to rent it soon.

I grew up on the original series of movies about "Jason and the Argonauts"

I, as a child thought that going to the drive in and watching them was great to say the least.

Somehow this version got past me without my knowing.

Tonight, on the Sci-Fi channel, they are showing it and I plan on seeing it.

If you have sci-fi, check your listing.

It comes on in T-minus 6 minutes.

My flatmates and I picked up a few DVD's over the past few days, and just started watching them tonight. First on the list was volume 2 of Gantz - a wierd and explicit, but cool and intriguing anime. The first volume is vicious and violent but the story is enough to make you want you to keep watching through the exploding heads, flying limbs, and embarrasment of dogs with sexual tendancies towards naked young women. This second volume slowed the violence and focused on the perverted main character and the horribly awkward to watch fixation he has on his new female friend. It's one of those shows with a likeable character that you want to "do well" and succeed at things, but at the same time you find yourself squirming in your seat knowing fine well that you will want to slap him for the next thing to come out his mouth. Anime fans who don't mind (or can bear) a bit of smut mixed in will find a lot to like about the show, but it's not for everyone!

Next up we watched Be Cool, the follow up to Get Shorty. I really enjoyed Get Shorty and so, despite the mostly bad press that Be Cool seemed to get, I wanted to give it a shot. I'm glad I did too, as while it wasn't as good as the first movie, it was far from unenjoyable. Most of the characters were likeable in one way or another - from Vince Vaughn's pathetic "Beee-atch!", to The Rock's self-parodying eyebrow raise - and though the plot did mimic the first film in maybe one too many ways, it worked out ok in my eyes.

Saw Munich today. One of the best and most raw movies I've seen in a while.

Lord of War was good. The characters are disgusting human beings, however.

So, I finally watched Harry Potter 1-3. I originally had no desire to see any of them until two things happened: Gary Oldman joined the ranks and I learned (and heard) John Williams did the score (which is fantastic, I should add). I really enjoyed them. Far darker than I could have imagined, also. I think the first one is the only one that perhaps borderlines as a "children's movie". The others are just ... brutal.

Also, Chamber of Secrets has just about the most badass snake in any movie ever.

Don't. Watch the first one now so that you don't make the mistake of watching the other ones.

Just watched Gantz discs 1-3. Its nice but as Reno said not for children or people with problems with smut or extreme animated violence, but has a good plot and occasional laughs. Plus characters are pretty good so far and animation quality is great.

Watched Mr. and Mrs. Smith last night, not that great but Angelina Jolie's always hot. Some funny lines but not that funny since I can't remember them anymore.

Watched Doom tonight, also not a great movie. The action sequences were pretty good, though. Very violent, that's always good. Gave me some ideas to work into my map, too. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

I watched the new Italian Job and Red Dragon tonight. Both were Ed Norton flicks, and both were entertaining. The Italian Job was just a disposable movie, entertaining for a single viewing, but I wouldn't want to watch it again.

Red Dragon, on the other hand, could use another viewing, but I wouldn't want to buy the DVD. If someone else owns it on DVD and wants to watch it, I'd be game. I think Ed Norton did a better job in this movie. I don't usually like horror/suspense type movies, but if you Silence of the Lambs type movies then check this out.

Thomas Harris is writing a screen play for a fourth Hannibal movie right now. When lecter is about sixteen. It should be cool. Coincidently, when regarding the books, it's the general consensus that Silence of the Lambs is the "worst", simply because it's pretty boring. However, in movie translation, it's the best of the three films. Hannibal is probably the worst. Not that it's a bad movie, just ... wasn't thought out as well, I think. (No offense Riddley).

I have a lot of free time on my hands right now, being February Break, and so I actually just watched 2 more movies and an episode of the Office.

I watched Red Eye for the first time. It wasn't that great, and I mostly blame the screenplay. The dialogue just didn't seem to grab me at all. The witty and romantic banter wasn't really that great, and there wasn't really a moral or message to the whole piece... it just seemed like one big set up for another one of Wes Craven's knife-wielding maniacs chasing damsel through a house scenes. My only real favorite part of the movie is when Cillian Murphy's character reveals his secret. I just thought it was a cool idea (although not cool enough for a feature film).

I watched Se7en tonight (yes I just put the number in the title). I like it enough to own it, and after taking a film class last semester I'm more impressed by the camera work and directing. I think it's really good. Two of my favorite parts are the soft focus shots in the library and in the final car ride. Also, Morgan Freeman's character is awesome. If you can stomach blood and disturbing ideas, there should be nothing stopping you from watching this movie, in my opinion.

I <3 Se7en. (Don't feel bad, that's actually how it's spelt)

"What's in the box??! WHAT'S IN THE BOX?!"

David Fincher is up there on my list of "Good Directors". That list also includes Chan Wook-Park (Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Oldboy, Lady Vengeance), Darren Aronofsky (Pi, Requim for a Dream), Michael Mann (Heat, Collateral), Ang Lee (Hulk, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Brokeback Mountain). Amongst some Music Video -> Film directors (Mark Romanek, Francis Lawrence).

I'd put Ridley Scott on my list too ... but he's really hit or miss. His movies aren't consistently good, nor are they consistently bad.

Watched: The Fog

A great second rendition of the first movie: The Fog

I honestly liked both but feel the second movie had a superior plot.

Spoiler:Somehow thinking that Lepers coming back to claim their dues is a bit more believable than pirates doing so.

Yeah Crono, I like Darren Aronofsky as well. I love watching Requiem for a Dream, and much prefer it to Pi. The black and white was just irritating I think in Pi (for some reason).
