Watched "Knight and Day" last night. Was pretty good. Had a lot of my kind of humor in the lines. The "I think I wanna have sex" line after the truth serum had me in stitches with the look on Tom's face.
Looking forward to "Legend of the Guardians"

Johna Hex, Wasn't all that bad, but really wasn't all that good either. Lets just say I would of gotten up mid way and got my soda and popcorn refilled and not rushed to do it, I would of felt like I missed nothing.

And following that guideline.. Tom Cruise was here long before "Our day" at least yours. I remember him baby faced.
Anywho's, its always been my understanding that "Our day" describes events, not really times. In our day, we had cars with carborators. In yours they have fuel injectors. Soon they will be fuel cells.
Anyway, events more so than times.
I guess one could argue times only with respect that someone was younger then, but our day could be as little as a year ago if things advanced fast enough.
Our day PC's were 386's @ 15 mhz. Now less than 2 decades later they are infinitely more powerful, yet this is still my day too.

In my day computers took up whole rooms ( if not more than one ) and the only internet was had by the Government. If you wanted to play games on said computers.. you had to have a connection like a mommy or a grandmother who worked at a military missile base.

Of a genre it was great. When compared to "The Incredibles" it blew chunks. But that doesn't retract from my earlier statement one iota.

Shatner was just about 40 when he took the role of captain in 1966. So yes, he's from their day not ours. (I'm 49 just in case you're wondering). I was 6 when he made Star Trek.
Outlander was OK IMO, not too very technically accurate (Sean Connery as an inter-stellar Marshall is a push to say the least. Perhaps his role in Zardoz was more fitting to his personna), which is what I look for behind story and content in a Sci-fi flick. But I am a wierdo anyways with that stuff. I'm a die hard Trekkie, (I've crashed several of the feature sets, and a couple of the series, Voyager and Enterprise), have set pieces, crew jackets and a butt-load of memorabelia.
One of my favorite Sci-fi movies is "The Fifth Element". I am amazed at the cinematography, and have always thought that a story where the hero and the protagonist never meets was clever to say the least. ALIENS is also a ripping yarn, with some sincere effort put into accurate tech based details. Bladerunner was also amazing. I happened to shoot at several of the local (Los Angeles) locations for that movie, on other projects of course. Attention to detail, and quite believable future tech makes this a great watch.
As for what Crono and Orph are on about, who could say. I do think though, that in an entertainment world seemingly bereft of fresh ideas, Outlander would be an excellent opportunity for a re-make with modern day cinematic effects and a more modern and relevant message.
And in closing, yes, RED was awesome. It's nice to see Willis accepting his age now in his roles, and John Malkovitch's character was hilarious as the conspiracy addled ex-spook, who was more right than wrong. Loved it.

Juim, Connery was in "Outland" I saw it at the drive in when it was new. Outlander is a new movie COMPLETEY unrelated. I am not quite sure where Connery came into this. Personally I don't think he made a good movie at all until after he did Highlander. Excepting his role as 007, he sucked in film. Now however he has a shitload of great movies.
He reminds me of Tom Hanks. Until he did "Forrest Gump" his movies were awful.

Outland with Sean Connery and Peter Boyle is a pretty crappy movie. It's one of those 80s scifi movies that had no budget for story and it shows. Even though it's full of some pretty good actors the whole thing falls flat on its face.
Outlander is a much better movie with Jim Cavezal and Ron Perlman about hunting a "dragon" which is actually some alien creature. It's pretty badass, but not anything amazing. I think the movie's funding just get a axed a bit so they knocked it from theatrical release. But it's got a serious Eaters of the Dead vibe going for it ... and Ron Perlman, who is awesome.
Recently, I watched Operation Endgame, which was pretty funny until they decided to have a cobbled together plot that makes little sense (Rob Corddry is always funny), and I saw Rubber.
