Well, transcendentals are the irrationals that aren't the root to any integer polynomial- a polynomial with integer coefficients, like 3x2 + 2 - so numbers like sqrt2 and so on are irrational but not transcendental. You'll need a proof of the Lindemann-Weierstrass theorem and to know lots of algebra |

I believe Lep has a math degree.
Monqui - we have plenty, one of which being the one Skele linked in his last reply.

That makes sense. it also explains why it seems to be so hard to prove a number is trancendental, since a long enough polynomial can aproximate just about anything.![]()

| I'm looking forward to King Arthur too Lep, if only for Keira Knightley |
...But Clive Owen is such a bad actor.
...And that movie looks terrible!
You're weak.

I know absolutely nothing of the movie, just saw an oh-so-tempting poster in the cinema and I was bought over
Strangely enough, I never realised it until today, but a girl I know looks really like her.
/turns on the charm...

| I concur. King Arthur just looked horrible to me from the very
beginning. From the reviews I've read though, it seems the main problems are it tries to be epic like Troy, it dumbs down the love triangle between Arthur/Guinvere/Lancelot, and it has too much damn fog. I suggest other movies... Like Napoleon Dynamite or something. |
I want to see that.
Oh, Reno, look at it this way ... AVP comes out next month

I like Paul Anderson's other films, such as Event Horizon and Resident Evil, but for some reason I hold very little hope for AvP.

I liked Event Horizon, and remember liking Mortal Kombat (haven't seen it in years though, I may hate it nowadays), but Resident Evil was pure bollocks in my opinion, and I'm afraid he might turn AVP into another Resident Evil. He claims to be a huge fan of the Alien and Predator movies, so I hope he knows what he's doing. [addsig]

Little random piece of knowledge for you - the underground train station scene from Resident Evil the movie, was filmed in the same location as the interior of the office scenes in Equilibrium. I don't know that for a fact, but I just noticed the ceiling is exactly the same in both films, and its kinda obvious its the same place despite the differences in use.
Errr, I don't actually have anything very relevant to add to the conversation however ![]()

The same thing goes with Mortal Kombat, probably to a greater effect.
I'm sure AVP will be the same way. You can only hope it wont be worse then his worst movie ... Soldier (Which I think he also wrote). [addsig]

| Reno, Resident Evil has an ... arua ... I can't explain it any other way, so does Mortal Kombat. They're terrible movies, but so much fun to watch. Resident Evil has terrible acting, terrible story, and terrible effects ... but its so fun to watch.

This sort of phenomenon is sometimes referred to as "so bad it's good", i.e. it's enjoyable to watch how bad a movie really is. A good example is the movie "The Core", which made almost zero sense, but was enjoyable because of it.
