I think if Nemesis was there to hunt Zombies it would have been a kagillion times better and the whole "Fight Him" thing at the end was f**kING RETARDED. But, yeah, overall I really liked it. There's unncanny resembalence to the game in most parts, even parts with Nemesis in them (Walking through walls). I also didn't like how they strayed away from Jill towards the end. But, overall, it was "good". As good as RE can be anyway.
The other thing is, people keep bitching how bad the movies are. What do you expect? Its based on a B-Story game, which, whether you admit it or not, is a rediculous series of games. Why would you even accept anything that's beautifully made? It wouldn't feel like the game at all. [addsig]

The original was a pain to sit through for me, it managed to sink below my already low expectations. And by the sounds of it, the second doesn't seem to be any different as a movie. [addsig]

Well, erm, this is late but oh well. I watched Frailty and Panic Room last night and The Butterfly Effect tonight... Frailty was weird in a weird way, Panic Room made women look technologically retarded (realistically, natch), and The Butterfly Effect was surprisingly good, and basically the only one I'd actually recommend to others.

And I really enjoyed Frailty, but like Adam said, it seemed *too* intentional instead of "something that just happens."
Another good movie that I just remembered was The Following. It's done by the same guy who did Memento, and it's quite a fun little trip. If you enjoyed Memento, you'll probably get a kick out of The Following (if you can even find a copy of it, that is). It uses a similar style of non-linear story-telling (although Memento could be construed as being linear, just backwards) that really works well. [addsig]

| Cypher is an awesome movie. Nice concept, plenty of storyline and twists. Keeps you guessing - you can see that the eventual outcome is possible from about midway, but there's plenty of other outcomes which would've been possible to write into the story just by changing the last 15 minutes.
. Having loved Memento, I think I might go find "The Following". Got any ideas what category it'd be under? |
One catagory would be "buy only". I doubt you'll find it for rent. And I believe movie places, like morons, would place it under suspence, or the generic area of Drama.
Which Dead End? The one with Christopher Walken?
"The Kid is gown-na diay"
I love the campy doomsday device Martin Sheen has. [addsig]

No, the more recent Dead End. Watched it last night, and while the ending spoils the whole film (i'd have preferred them all to have died and that be it...) the rest of the film is really good. Lots of tension and atmosphere and a little disturbing in places too!

By the way, Mallrats is okay SOMETIMES. By far the worst parts of the movie are with Jay and Bob ... God I hate Kevin Smith. [addsig]

Anyone who enjoys Shaun Of The Dead should also try and get hold of the TV series 'Spaced' as its written/stars the same people.
EDIT: Oh, and it's brill!

Seen more on a whim and boredom than actual interest. Co-stars Kim Basinger and William H. Macy have surprisingly fairly flat characters / performances. Takes itself far too seriously. Absurdity is present in every single scene, and you can't help but just laugh. "Action" is all very contrived, along with the "plot" as well. There's a really good music track hidden in this abomination of a film though.
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
The whole movie was shot in green-screen (or is it blue?) I believe, which lends it a kind of fake, old retro feel. The CG they use is nice though, very stylistic of pre-WW2 era art. Ultimately pretty good - not nearly enough screentime for Angelina Jolie though, I think. The trailer is also misleading in various ways, but then again, a lot of trailers generally are. It kind of fell a bit short of my expectations, but definately something worth watching I think. Writing, I felt, was generally pretty good.
