On another note, yours seems to be the only positive opinion I've found for Blade: Trinity. Otherwise, all I hear is that it's utter grabage, especially compared to the first two.

You're not talking about critics are you? Because they really have terrible opinions to movies. It's as if every movie needs to be a potential film of the year for them to like it.

Trinity is like all the other comic book movies. None of them are good movies (except Hulk and X2), but they're awesome.

That probably doesn't make sense, does it? [addsig]

Nah, a few of my mates acquired a copy, and all proclaimed it as "utter s**t". Not as bad as AVP, apparently, but they did say that it had nothing that make the the first two good. They didn't really go into specifics though, heh.

Nope. Is this the "so bad it's good" school of thought?

No, Evil Dead is really the "So bad it's good" type deal. Comic Book movies fall under an entirly different area. I wouldn't trust most people's opinions of comic book movies. Because to really enjoy them you'd have to be a fan of the comic (not really true in Blade though ). [addsig]

Dude, I hate The Evil Dead. Evil Dead II: Dead By Dawn and Army of Darkness are awesome.
I can't believe that Evil Dead II: Dead By Dawn is actually a sequel and not a remake. [addsig]

Wasn't evil dead made on a low budget though? I liked it for the gore, *hugs copy of ichi the killer*. I haven't seen evil dead two or army of darkness though, are the plots good, coz I think thats where evil dead was let down.

They're ridiculous, but so awesome. They're actually funny though, the first movie isn't funny it's just bad.

Raimi made The Evil Dead when he was in film school. Cheap ass movie. However, Rodriguez is God when it comes to making a low budget movie. El Mariachi (awesome movie) only cost him $7000. Yet it looks so expensive. He basically just cuts costs by removing needless things (such as cranes in a city area and catering).

Using spray-painted waterguns in lieu of any real or replica firearms saved him a bundle too. I think that's possibly my favorite ultra-low budget film.

Just saw Scary Movie 3 and The Last Samaruri for the first time. Scary Movie 3 was funny as hell. So many parodys so little time. The Last Samaruri was awesome and is currently one of my favorite movies now. I really liked the beauty of all the different areas that the movie took place in Japan. Also I think it gave me a better understanding of Samaruris. I really enjoyed the whole movie.

I take it you have the Desperado/El Mariachi package, CCS? The directors commentary and insight on the shooting of El Mariachi is fantastic - particularly the cost cutting methods employed as you mentioned. Ultimate in low budget proves to be good, certainly gives the majority of Hollywoods tosh output a run for it's money.

I watched the blair witch project last night, I saw it when I was younger when it first came out and thought it was pretty poor then.
My thoughts now: I like the build up of tension, but when they have the camera in the dark and it's pitch black for too long it just irritates me. The ending is terrible IMO, leaves to many unanswered questions.

Apparently, the journalists at the foreign press disagree with your view. Clive Owen just got nominated for the Golden Globe award for his role in "Closer" (so did Natalie Portman and the director, Mike Nichols).

I am going to watch "Kinsey" this afternoon. I've been waiting, and the Golden Globe nomination just pushed me over the edge.

Anyone seen "Sideways"? I am not sure I'll like it, knowing the type of film and the plot.
