Hey, a while back we had a topic about Jet. Just wondering what you all thought about the YYY's, or if you've even heard of them.

I hate all kids bands. This includes Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, That lizzie maguire s**t, and whatever actresses takes a job up in the music biz.
Although the lead singer of the YYY(s) isnt too bad looking I reckon

Meh, sounds like more of that thrashing/wailing crap really, but don't know, haven't heard many of their songs...

Google 'em. You can play three or so songs of theirs at their site.
Karen O. is so crazy but definately makes for an interesting singer.

I <3 TICK!
How could you say that? Well, I guess it isn't THAT great, I'm just mesmorized by her screaming.
But I'd have to agree with all your other choices, especially Y-control. That song rawks!

I quite liked a couple of the songs they released. I can't remember what they were called, but one was quite energectic (and involved claymation in the video), and the other was quite slow and simple, where she actually singed instead of wailed. Though they released one song before both, which seemed to be high-pitched wailing and guitars just for the hell of it. It didn't even touch those other two, so I'm not toally convinced in getting their album in fear that it'll just be the same thing over and over, with only a few good songs.
And what exactly is a kid band? And she was on DIsney? What have you been smoking Vash?
To be honest, I got sick of all those underproduced garage rock influenced stuff that's coming out recently a while back. I'm getting into a lot of progressive stuff at the moment. Refused's last album (The Shape Of Punk To Come) is amazing; how they managed to blend elements of punk, hardcore, jazz, blues and folk music so well is beyond me. Metallica's "...And Justice For All", Nine Inch Nails' 'The Fragile", Oceansize's "Effloresce", Pink Floyd's "The Wall" and "Dark Side Of The Moon", have all been staple parts of my musical diet for the past few weeks. Not a big fan of 'em. Problem is it's been done so much better by other bands, and the Yeah Yeah Yeah's seem to be more about the image than the music.

I know what you mean by 'kid band' (I think I do anyway) - I would say sum41 is a kid band. It's like bands that kids say 10-14 can like, that aren't crap pop bands, but at the same time they find it hard to genuinely like 'proper' album bands of the genre, because these bands aren't usually so accessable.
I know that when I was younger, it was more 'cool' to like non-pop, but at the same time, it was hard for me to genuinely like these bands, because I either wasn't able to or couldn't be bothered to appreciate the real alternative music. 'kid bands', for want of a better name, provide a way for younger people to break away from the normal poppy crap (which they may genuinely not like), while staying with something they do actually like.

Hmm, I wouldn't apply that term to the yeah yeah yeahs. If they were as accessible as Sum 41, they'd be huge by now...

Well I don't recall ever hearing a song by the yeah yeah yeahs, I was just explaining my idea of what a kid band is - no idea if it actually applies to the band in question

Hah, having a parental advisory label only makes them more attractive to people who think they aren't supposed to be allowed to have the album.
*reads post below* can't disagree with that since I never heard them

I guess I'd have to agree.
Anyway, I don't think the YYY's would appeal too much to young kids.

Why did they get the explicit lyric tag? I don't remember anything too terrible in it?
