I have to say, the future is bright. Hopefully, with the amount of detail the future holds, the need for good, well rounded artists will increase.

Hrmph... I hope this link was the one I intended to post. The video was here at work, and I didn't actually download from this link. After reading the responses on that page, I'm dubious as to whether this is the right video (should be from 2004 GDC). I'm downloading it now to see if it's the same one I saw. If not, I will try to find out where my guys got it from, and post that link.

Nah, who cares about playing space cop? If the engine is good, offers great new effects and is quite popular (you'll need some audience for your maps off course), I'd go for it...
Oh, no, wait! I can see HL2 at the horizon! ![]()

Unreal Engine 3 != Unreal 3. This is just the tech behind their next game, we find out if it's Unreal series or not later
Also, Unreal 2 was made by Legend, not Epic.
And someone else was whining about how this was useless because all the Unreal-series games 'sucked' - So before anyone does that here, let me also just remind everyone this is a major licensing platform, and there will be plenty of good games made on it regardless of what Epic does

I do believe that Splinter Cell was created from Unreal technology.

| Matt, this is what's called 'shaky cam' footage. I.e. someone took a video camera and recorded the demonstration. Remember the old HL2 E3 videos compared to the high-res .exe versions? |
Point taken.

| Hopefully, a very good Radiant/Hammer editor game will come out before I ever have to use UED. |
heh Cassius gets bent out of shape if I make fun of HL2, but has no problem trolling every Unreal-related thread that pops up ![]()
I saw the video. Too bad it's shakey-cam, but even so it looked amazing. I downloaded the demo for the new physics engine that they are going to use, and it's pretty nice, too. Of course, we probably won't see a game using this tech for at least 2 years, but it's still a nice glimpse of the future ![]()
