I used to play alot, but now... there arent any games that can old my attention for more than an hour or so. Mapping though, I can easily spend 8+ hours at a stretch.

I do both equally really. I've been playing more than mapping recently, because I've got a sort of creative block I just can't shake. :/

I don't know if I can answer this question.
I couldn't imagine one without the other, to be honest.
I couldn't imagine editing a game purly for editing purposes and not out of the eventual outcome and how entertaining or fun it would be.
However, I couldn't play an amazing game and not think of the possibilities of things that could be created.
I just think they go hand in hand, however, I have noticed that sometimes when people map more often then play, their maps aren't much fun to play and more or less turn into a pain in the ass task. (Not talking about anyone specific at the pit or anything like that.)
I don't think you could give up either (Or rather, I couldn't give them up), but more specifically, I don't think you could give up playing games if you still create, edit, or map (for) them.
