As orph would already know , i have a "bug" on my pc, its in program files in C: but I can't see it, the only way i know that it is there is that i ran Spyxoft but it cannot delete it because it is just a evaluation and i need to register it. Do any off you 1337 mappers know any good free virus removal programs to help me get rid of this bug? [addsig]

I seem to remember its not so much it doesn't like it as there is a minor minor hitch. Spybot keeps all the old spyware in a safe folder hidden away. Ad-aware will try to delete the old spyware if it stays in the file. To be honest, I always empty this "safe-folder" after every scan with Spybot anyway, so it shouldn't be a problem. [addsig]

www.grisoft.com has a free virus scanner (AVG) that lets you update and never expires. Saves a lot of trouble with downloading new scanners every month because the trials keep running out.

I recommend you don't download SpyKiller SpywareNuker. I got SpyKiller from download.com and after a lengthy scan it says how many 'spyware' deemed files you have, and then tells you to go register. After getting rid of it I noticed in msconfig that it popped up some little executable that ran hidden while my computer was running, which isn't polite. SpywareNuker is apparently pretty nasty spyware itself too:

http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=threats&detail=258 (description on Spybot site, which has a large listing of Spyware offenders, what their products do and the effects they have)

I'm sure there's others, but I'd read reviews before downloading Spyware removing programs. Spybot and Ad-Aware and fine, but there's probably other fake ones too. One thing though - don't listen to most of the comments at download.com because the commenters are probably either paid to comment there or deliberately put down good programs (according to one comment Spybot has a 'coreflow virus' whch is a lie).
