Duncan, is your option to add a new map there in the control panel? It's just blank under maps in mine. [addsig]

Why does it say "please update map details" by one of my maps?

The 'basic' theme needs to be marked with a *, because it doesn't work

Add those smilies!

See, it's missing! Maybe Lep was being a smartass and took it out assuming I'd never use it? [addsig]

*hears flogging sound anew*

we are still getting map screens uploaded above 100k.. is there not some realistic way to prevent this? one that does NOT rely on these peoples ability to comprehend compassion?

personally, i am considering starting a humiliation thread, one dedicated to people so hard headed that they fail to realize 100k images are the extreme upper limit..

yeah, /me considers it strongly.. maybe a bit of finger pointing will straighten them up

PHP does have functions to adjust the quality of images, but that doesn't help when the image isn't hosted on the snarkpit. It is also possible to copy an image from a remote location, then get it's file size.

Perhaps when you post with images, it could copy these images from the reomte location to the server, and if any of them are too big, a window pops up with a <100K jpeg version of the image for the user to upload to their webspace? This is definately feasable, but it sounds like more effort than it's worth...

IMO, if the images do not fall within the perscribed criteria, you cannot use them.. period.

why should people care if a 600k image is hosted someplace else? its still 600k

IMO, if you cannot post screens well below 100k, you obviously don't care, and neither should we..

snarkpit should be able to decide whats acceptable, and veto the rest..

100k is the extreme upper limit.. 50k is preferred..

why extend consideration to people who are obviously not worthy..??

the point here is, we hare having to discuss something easilly solved, and past due in solving.. if it cannot be done with code (looks at lep for confirmation of this) the links should be removed.. with a warning to the author..

Orph I thank you for your criticisms but lately it seems like you're telling me how to run this place I can get it to save images > 200k or so in size at a lower quality automatically, I'll look into that in the next few days if I get some time.

i can stop, just give the word..

*sighs*

i could say, of late you have been over-reacting to my posts..

i have been here almost the whole time this site has been around, if i wanted power, i am sure i could have had it by now.. stop competing with me.. this is after all the site suggestion thread, where else would someone post them?

look around this site, i recommended almost everything here, i may not have suggested it first, or fifth, or fifteenth, but the point is, i agree with 99% of the site, why would i attempt to upset that?

you wound me with false accusations, i know there is a smiley, but it rings of a truth, and i am uncomfortable with it..

i argue with people over almost everything, i have yet to argue over the pit as a site..

as i said.. if you want me to stop debugging.. say so..

before ANYONE asks why i didn't post this in the PM's, cause lep felt it important enuff to post openly, why should i not return the favor

Sorry, meant to use some sarcasm tags there really, didn't mean it in a bad way (hence smiley). Making the website automatically convert images is much easier than getting people to do it themselves and having warning message etc., and I certainly wouldn't appreciate you doing a naming and shaming campaign anyway

someday, you people (the whole pit) need to explain the correct way to vent..

my comment was akin to saying "i'm gonna kill him" knowing full well you are not going to do any such thing..

if i were going to do anything.. like that, i wouldn't be secretly optimizing screenshots for my friends

200k is a bit OTT, but its way better than 5 or 6 hundred.

It happens (more than you think!), not sure how - usually linked to zips off scratched cd's/corrupt archives/incorrect usage of archiving program [addsig]

we can spam future sites with empty zips if this is possible

It probably just defined the file as there, sort of said "create these files", but then never got around to actually copying the contents from Lep's computer to the newly created forklift.zip. So the file exists, and the extension shows it is a zip file, but the file is actually empty. [addsig]
