Lep, Maybe you should allow us to submit *drum role*
SKY MAPS!!
That would be neat... we could submit our (meaning you must have done some work to make the sky mapmust be your skymap) and assemble a skymap section! Short of one? Just choose one!

Also, places like The Wadfather for instance already have hundreds of skymaps up for download, and i'm willing to bet there's some links in the Editing Help forum on one of the sticky topics..

As Gwil said, there's no point in trying to compete with a pretty established and useful site (even if it is the most horrifically horrific Javascript site I've ever seen in my life :o)

Posted by $loth Was just thinking, on the front page with the new maps, maybe a lil icon to click on for pics? But that would create a prob, coz peeps who choose to host thier own, dont get thumbnails next to the pic to link to others[ if that made sense]. Maybe there could be an icon just for people who choose to upload there pics? |
Are you proposing thumbnails for new maps, listed with them? If so, it's a good idea and certainly nie eye candy - but I'm willing to bet the idea has been around before and isn't *really* feasible due to bandwidth constraints.
I'm almost certain that Lep doesn't want to stretch his wallet further, he is a poor ol' student after all

Posted by G.Ballblue Is there some reason why the articles/interviews section is BLANK? |
When this site came into its current version we use now, Half-Life was already more than on the wane. It's just a matter of there isn't the interest, activity or demand to be pouring our heart and souls into creating articles.
Indeed, they are more a feature of the site that is effectively sitting on the back burner until Half-Life 2 refreshes and revitalises the community
A good idea perhaps would be a comedy look at mapping - e.g. 100 Signs You Use Hammer Too Much, or perhaps even things along the lines of DaveJ's famous 51 tips articles

Posted by Fraggard I don't know which end this error is on, but the map screenshots window is not resizing for me... anyone else have this problem? (It used to work fine before) |
Browser? Version of browser?
---
Regarding "chapters" questions - wait for Lep i'd say, it's still very much a new system and will be developed and polished over time.. keep the feedback coming!

I don't have any problems with bandwidth, but aesthetics... though I can see the point in having a screenshot icon, why not read about the map too first and not be lazy ![]()
The articles/interviews page is blank because I never got round to making it, forgot about that ![]()
And fraggard use a newer browser man
I'll add some of the old javascript code in, the current resizes don't take into account window sizes properly and it doesn't work terribly well...

It would be nice to see articles though, perhaps general guides as opposed to all out tutorials, comedy/nostalgia, mapping hints and ideas, recommended reading... stuff like that I guess?
If people will write them, that is... just like me writing reviews eh, for this old old game..
Gimme some maps to do and I will (anyone and everyone), im currently an out of work job seeking fool so don't do much in the day! Until I get replies back from the various posts I have applied for, that is - time is short but available.

You probably remember me better by name "hullu".
I got problem with the site: I cannot add maps Templecore and Zeroceromon to my profile because they exists already (because of reviews).
Fix it, please(?)
