We could have a section in the maps for the all time top 10 maps which have been submitted on the snarkpit. They could be based on average rating, times downloaded etc.

P.S. This is a serious suggestion.

If you click on the 'can't see the box below' link, the smileys will show. Any text you had entered will vanish though, so be careful. I think it's better having them hidden, it helps prevent their abuse.

I don't know that's a good idea that add new forum rooms: "Uncomlited maps (when someone don't have ideas how to good compite the map)" and "Plans and ideas or visions of good maps (here somebody may add plans in graphic file or scripts of maps)". I've spotted this categories of forum in polish mappers web (www.hl.mapping.pl). Unfortunetly on this forums nobody have been. Maybe something like this idea of new categories of forum could be much popular on "snarkpit.com". [addsig]

I don't really think there is much need for such additional forums to be honest, as their purposes are already covered by the existing ones. Putting up pictures of great ideas for levels could be done in the General Banter forum and isn't done often enough to deserve its own forum, while uncomplete maps are exactly what the mapping forum is there for.

Plus it could well be filled with rubbish ideas from people just starting out, how many posts saying "I'd like to see a huge 16 sq. mile map filled with hostages" have we all seen?

Ok, RSS: let me know if this works ok.

http://www.snarkpit.com/rss.xml

It should be updated every time someone posts/edits some news; let me know if there is some problem with the HTML in messages (e.g. where people have posted links) as I'm not quite sure how RSS readers deal with it.

How is it supposed to look lep? This is what I'm getting, but I don't have a clue how RSS works.

Edit: Oops, I was under the impression that forefox had rss built-in. Maybe I was thinking of an extension or maybe that's horses**t.

You use RSS readers to view it, not browsers. http://blogspace.com/rss/readers
It's basically a way to syndicate your news, and apparently you can customise how it looks given the information provided in the RSS file.

I've also done something to the PM system, you should be able to notice it after you've sent/replied to a few It's a bit dodgy at the moment but as ever it'll be worked on over time.

/edit: And is it you who's been fowarding SA forum members here?

I submitted the Snarkpit as an Awful link of the day. I often hop between the sites, but I only lurk on SA.

I don't know if this has been proposed already, but a tutorial section for DOOM III mapping would be very much welcome. [addsig]

Given that there's only one map for it, don't see much point

i can tell by the way the replies bounce around that some people do not yet realize that the maps forum has "chapters"

how can we make it more obvious?

I can't help but notice that the chapters system in the mapping forum seems to be confusing a lot of people. Check out the dm_motel thread for an example of this, or even dm_petrol. I can see that the system has merit, but I don't think its that ideal in its current form.
