sounds like codename eagle, even dsl/cable modemers had trouble.. it never took off, but became a cult hit on the UK lan scene. worth a try perhaps ![]()

Yeah, I think this kind of thing would only work at a LAN. I regularly attend LANs with 400+ attendees, so I'm sure BF][ will get a whirl one of these days.

I just imagined a 100 person game of Onslaught in UT2k4 with multiple Leviathans on each team. It felt like that high you get when you eat really good cheesecake or kiss an amazingly hot girl. Yum.
yeah the lan bit could work out nicely for BF2. hell, maybe arcades will make a comeback if they ever get a brain and tap into this kind of massive multiplayer stuff.

Uh ... they have servers connected directly to their own satallite which transfers and recieves information from their satallites.
However, I'd much rather have what the Army is developing ... quantium internet connection
Basically the information is delivered instantaniously. The hardware actually slows down the connection, that would put a new twist on things. [addsig]

Arcades? Just imagine... a 500-player game of DDR. That would be... creepy.

I am on 512/128 ADSL and I find BF1942 runs just fine for me on servers with up to about 44 players online, then it starts to flake out. I connected to a 64 player server once, it looked like the other people were having fun, but I was watching a slideshow with near constant "Warning: Connection Error" messages, ![]()
So maybe we will see most servers with 75 - 80 players instead of 100 ![]()
