Well, this time I went for more of a smooth look on the rock surfaces, let me know what you guys think. Personally I think I need to do more work on it but I figured it would be cool to run it through the snark tank:

Here is a slight variation:

yea, agreed. Slowly but surely I'm getting there. I'm going to add more variation and diversity to the surfaces. I have to say though I am getting much faster, and developing some good techniques. Eventually I'll do some tutorials when I am 100% confident in my methods.
Thanks for the feedback.

I don't think the moss comes out strong enough - looks more like green paint that was dripped around and has faded over time.

I agree, the mossy spots aren't coming across well. One thing I would do, is try flattening the whole thing, duplicating that layer, adding a good bit of noise to the duplicate - then go in with a low opacity eraser and start erasing away the new, grainy later. You should be able to add a little messiness that way.
Here Grim, I took it upon myself to play with your texture - hope you don't mind. I did what I suggested above ^, then also added some moss to the cracks and rocks. Play around with the noise filter - just a little bit can help pull you away from that clayish/plastic look.

not so keen on the moss, they have more texture to them but they are allot more blurry now. Needs to be sharp for a texture imo.

Much better than the last one!![]()
Two complaints:
1. there should be more contrast between the grout and the stones.
2. the stones should vary more in color and possibly texture.
I really like Grim's lichen, it would go well with grey stones.
Finger- your moss besides being blurry isn't subtle enough.

ok..spent a few more minutes on it. Less moss, monochromatic noise, little messier. Still not perfect; I'm sure Grim will do a better job of it in the end.

No problem Finger, kind of cool that someone actually took the time to play around with my texture
.
The moss was actually a last minute add, I actually feathered a selection over the original moss, ctrl-lmb on layer ctrl-shft-I to invert the sellection, feathered and deleated some of it. I think I deleated too much though, it had more definition before. (actually I feathered before I inverted to be exact
)
I'll put some more time into this one and post the progress later, thanks for the feed back.
