Number 5 any day. Around here, my buddies with cable get some decrease in performance during the "rush" hours. Whereas I always have great performance. Im DSL if you couldnt guess![]()
Cable does have faster downloading but for games, its pretty equal. Actually, it is equal. Here anyways.

I think it varies from area to area, and ISP to ISP tbh - never had broadband myself so I don't know.
Cable always gives you the option of installing cable tv as well (right?)..
edit: your poll options are a little confusing as well, are you asking whether to choose between Cable/Dsl? The options should perhaps be..
"Cable"
"xDSL"
"Neither"
"Other" - or something like that.. just an idea ![]()

An advantage of cable in the UK is that for DSL you normally have to buy your own modem, wheras cable ones come free with the service. Also cable doesn't have annoying authentication and things. If all you care about is ping, then it doesn't matter what you choose, but personally I would go for cable any time, provided the same bandwidth is available as for DSL.

Yea, as far as I know, cable is always connected and dosent require you to input username and password. Whereas DSL does. But for me thats peanuts. I have my manager connect me when the PC boots up and the username and password is saved so I really dont have to do anything. As for the modems, I got mine for free.
The thing with that is, when you end your subscription, they will want ALL their equipment back.
Also, for DSL, you'll have to install phone filters (they give you the filters) on every phone line where a phone is pluged. I dont know if theres anything special for Cable.

Usually cable tv is considered seperate (although when you get both they usually give you a discount). As for cable vs. dsl, they will both give you very low pings, go with whatever is cheaper.

See this is really weird, where I live DSL blows ass chunks and cuts out every five minutes. Cable is like some mysterious golden god ... until you get a T1 connection
Anyway:
I'd say cable if the price is resonable. However ... the one nice thing about DSL is that no extra connections need to be made to your home ... but I've found that cable is more reliable ... in Oregon, USA anyway.
Oh, and before Orph gets on here. He had trouble with cable, so, he only uses ADSL now and he's become quite a fanboy on the subject too
