has anyone besides me, been keeping up with this seasons events??

i hate to say this, but this show has advanced so far IMO, that it has now exceeded my allegiance to TNG..

yes all the treks are good IMO, but this new show is more people minded, i suppose because its not as far in our future as the others were..

if you have not looked at this show since year one, and stopped because you thought it crap.. remind yourself exactly how horribly year 1 was for TNG, and now they have several feature films with the cast/crew..

Enterprise is destined to overshadow all the other treks... take a moment to watch this year at least.. it may win you over as well

I absolutely despise Enterprise. It's even cheesier than Stargate SG:1, and I thought that would be an impossible feat in the first place. The one time I braved the entire title theme tune (urgh, so unbeleivably bad as that was), the whole episode just reeked of cheese. Usually, with cheesy stuf, it's so bad that it's good, for example Jake 2.0. That stuff is alughable so at least you're enjoying it in some capacity. But this was just unbareable.

Urgh. I never really liked Star Trek in the first place, but some of the movies weren't bad. I could at least see why people liked it before, but this show is the lowest of lows. The only good American drama I've seen is recent years (or at least what we get over in the UK) is 24. Everything else just makes me cringe (except for Jake 2.0, which makes me laugh at the same time). it seems the only good stuff on TV nowadays are comedies, and even then the good ones are rare.

Is it me, or has TV just gotten worse and worse over time? [addsig]

damn kage, you must be truly hard to please, cause i genuinely love SG-1

anywho's, its no crime to dislike the shows.. but it hardly leaves much left to watch... you must have a very small viewing repertoire

It is true, I tend to be a tad cynical with TV shows. There are only a few that actually make it under my radar (for example 24). I tend to watch more comedies than anything. Friends was good, as was Seinfeld, and Malcolm in The Middle, so I at least know you're all good at that sort of thing. To be perfectly honest, it's not as if we're any better at tense drama either. In fact, I don't think I watch any actual TV drama at all. It's just all so bad to me. It tends to only work in movies for me. Meh, TV only seems to be good at making me laugh now.

I guess this is why I'm downloading episode upon episode of Who's Line Is It Anyway. That show was just pure hilarity. [addsig]

People oriented is a bad thing, it gets too corny and into itself. I only watched Voyager for the 'getting home events' that occasionally happened, and the shows which just focused on character development were dull and pointless :/ (DS9 was the same and utterly tedious until they got into the final series with the Dominion story, although the end was a bit of a damp squib!) I can't really see where Enterprise is aiming, we all know that they live happier ever after for at least a couple of hundred years more

thats a sucky outlook bud.. we know what happened to the titanic, we watch it anyways, we know what happened to challenger and pearl, but we still watch..

i made false_accretion, and while i was doing so i kept telling myself, what the hell was on the other side of that damned door in "Lambda_Bunker" ..

anywhos.. the plot this season is incredible.. but if i must convince you of it in a forum post, then you might as well hang it up cause..

anywhos.. are there really no trekkies here at the pit?

Juim is a diehard trekkie, I believe

i believe you are right, but.. its in his best interest.. considering his occupation.

to bad you have to live in such a crappy state to get a cherry job like that.. i would love to be in any trek film.. even if it was disguised as an aliens turd

yeah, so i gathered recently... but i bet you are smart enuff to get my point..

there are movies made daily, based on fact that we know the outcome before we even sit down in the theaters..

i wanna see "The Alamo" i wanna decide for myself if it is truly as crappy as the critics state.. but here again, i know the outcome, and would still sit through it all

Enterprise never appealed to me - Prequel series concepts generally don't work as well when the prequel is completely apocryphal to... well, anything already established. Call me a purist, but meh.

Agreed on the DS9 finale, Lep. They really made a pretty impressive Trek out of the Dominion stretch (actual focus on -combat- and development of warships like the Defiant and Sovereign-Class Enterprise? WOOHOO!), but that ending was a little weak. The philosophical aspect of DS9 was never bad, but it always seemed to go on for too long or show up at the wrong times [addsig]

Of course I get your point. Personally I find the human interest story with no 'aim' just a waste of time, I could go watch/read non-fiction about real people and situations if I was interested in that.

so i take it, of the posters thus far, you have not seen the plot this year..

fair enuff.. but its got me sitting on the edge of my seat..

i have not been this excited since the shadow wars of babylon 5..

truth be told, babylon 5 was the only sci-fi story to pull me away from the trek universe.. i was so disappointed when the show was canceled

I liked Babylon 5 - some of the design and graphical setpieces were stunning, and it had a decent storyline to boot. But by the time it got cancelled, the story had become much duller anyway. It reached its climax just before all the ancient alien races went away, taking their badass ships with them. Seemed a bit pointless after that.

Babylon 5 was spectacular.

I need to get me all those seasons on DVD once I get my real paychecks going. Just over a month now, woohoo! [addsig]

Yes I am a die hard trekkie. I have about a 25,000 dollar collection (all told, retail). I too was very dissappointed with Enterprises. Although I must say this past season the story line has managed to capture my attention. I appreciate the character development. Archers ability to do evil in pursuit of greater causes, the crews hatreds, desires all being worn on their sleeves, and generally good story telling. There was a point when I wrote it off. (of note: the acrual stealing of enemy mine for an episode), but they have redeemed themselves rather nicely. I hold slightly higher hopes for another season now.

my collection, is limited to books and video's, but i am no less a trekkie for it

this year is monumental in the trek universe as far as enterprise has developed..

i fear, of an equally monumental cliff hanger, since there are only 2 episodes left this year, and the final one is top secret..

you have any inside scoop juim??

Nope sorry. Save for my acquaintance with one of the ex employess of Trekdom, I have heard no scoops.

Firefly, however has made it to the big screen!. I just happened to drop by the soundstage where they are building the sets for it at Universal last week. Joss Whedon sold his soul for this one though. None of the original production crew are on it, including the art director. They are using the same effects house, (the ones who won an emmy for the TV series fx). I sadly prolly won't get to work on it though. I did manage to get the new Key Grips phone number and have been dropping little messages to him hoping to squezze in as a regular hammer, but it does'nt look good. Sets are impressive and feature scaled though. I'll try and sneal some pics next time I'm over there.
