I think "c**t" takes rank of higher insult then "bitch"

Sometimes, I call people a "Windows users".
However, in the context I use it in, it's funny.

Some of the more insulting ones are calling someone "Jewish", and it's not really insulting to the person, but anyone who is jewish. [addsig]

I'll remove it once I get a confirmed seizure... Jon?

I don't really find any words offensive if used in jest, I've been desensitized by the internet and its population of twelve year olds with tourettes. [addsig]

Up here in Canada we refer to it as "Pulling the goalie".

Well, at least I and my friends do.

I guess from me, the most insulting thing someone has ever called me is "arrogant" but that's because I am.

There is no absolute worst insult. The most offensive thing you ever hear could come from somebody who wasn't even trying to offend you. If I had spent ages painting (not that I paint) some portrait, and my friend came along and said (while not joking around) 'hey that looks good, what is it?', I would probably be more offended than if they came over and shouted some abuse at me.
If a lecturer that I respect said that I was lazy, this would upset me more than if some idiot I never saw before in my life said I was 'wearing a f**king stupid c**t of a hat'.

To me, the worst insults are ones that go against my own personal view of myself, and come from somebody who actually knows me, as this would have a lot of meaning. 'swear words' no longer have any real meaning or significance since every other 8-year-old started using them.

"c**t of a hat" ?

But, you're right, however, I thought the thread was about offensive words as in the words themselves are offensive, and not nessesarily where they came from.

However, I'm sure as much as it would upset you for an instructor to call you lazy, it would upset you more if they called you a f**king idiot. (not saying that's the case) [addsig]

No need to tip toe around me! I'm not gonna break out into a flamewar if you set me as an idiot in a completely hypothetical situation!

But seriously, it wouldn't upset me more. I don't know one person who would say 'f**king idiot' and mean it as a serious insult. That is what I expect to be called if I get into uni and tell my friend that I forgot my calculator
