Definatly! If i hadn't started paying more attention instead of sleeping and reading comics and computer mags then i wouldn't of been able to sweep through the exams i've done so far [P.E. science and to a certain extent english]. If you have potential then why waste it. damn! i sound like my mum!![]()

| And Goths are just ugly and stupid, or at least all of them I've met or even seen. I have never read good goth poetry, despite the mass of it being made, and never seen a good looking goth chick. So there. |
I've seen one good looking goth chick, but she ruined it with a haircut that looked like total ass. Believe it or not, she was actually gorgeous otherwise. Damn shame she had to go destroy it
Angsty poetry or writing is all crap anyway, goth or not. Always written by someone who thinks they know how to write 'profound' things and that what they think even matters. Boo-hoo, no one likes me. Maybe because you're more cookie-cutter than the so-called cut-outs you're trying to rebel against! *sigh*
I'm no punk, but I love the genre of music. And even though I don't fall into the definition of a punk person, I find a lot of aspects of it (particularly the unity concept) really appealing and really interesting. Of course, it's degraded to a fashion trend and people running around being jackasses: "you're a poser!" "No you're a poser!" "No, you're BOTH poseurs, and I used a French word, so I'm cooler than you!" Sickening, really. Last I checked, it was about bringing people together on a common denominator; under a common flag. Guess that proves how little I know

Everybody I've ever met says they've seen one hot goth chick - I've seen a hot girl that thought she was goth but wasn't; I think part of the criteria is that you are ugly to begin with.

exactly
they only write angst poems because theyre generally ugly and no-one likes them.. so they exacercebate (SP!?!!?) problem further by deliberately alienating themselves from anyone...
as for the commies comment, i;d bet most punks/goths/rockers of nowadays wouldn't know the difference between right and left if it hit them in the face.
remember, all they are trying to do is not be "another clone"... - to achieve this they wear what everyone else does and listen to what everyone else listens to. its usually people with low intellects struggling to find an identity for themselves. society gives them one ![]()

Loth, your gf has good taste; this movie is actually a modern adaptation of Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew". They kept even the names Bianca (the nice sister), and Katherine (the shrew).
KFS, if the use of the word nazi was offending, then I apologize. I understand from the syntax of your post that it pissed you off. In this part of the world nazism is not very shocking, so I used it without thinking. It's not impossible to hear in a speech by a Hezbollah leader "Hitler, that great hero"... so..
That being said, I think the general opinion on Goths is kind of harsh; I don't think they do it just "to be cool". Adopting this dark look is often the result of an inner wound. It's not cool to be twisted; but some people are. Family problems? Quest for identity? Many reasons can cause that. The reason why I defend them is coz I was madly in love with a goth girl, very smart, very beautiful, but also very weird... Sad and disconnected from the outside world. She told me about Sonic Youth; that's a great band!

Who said it was a quest to be cool? Goths are from cool ![]()
Misreading, misquoting and arguing on such points is the scourge of the internet!
BTW: most people will have course realised that (bar the new york dolls "school" of punk, british punk started it all - and quite a large majority were fascists/loved brawling and were about as far from the left wing as you could get...

I used to think that I never put forth any effort at all, and got by with my immense ability, but now I suspect that my definition of 'effort' intensely differs from most peoples definition. Apparently, I work like a maniac on assignments, but I have such high personal standards that I often fall short of them. Because of this I have never thought of myself as much of an effort giving person. Weird. [addsig]

Generally, I have a school (and home) personality something like this...
First 2 - 3 hours within waking up: Cranky and grouchy. Don't bug me.
1 hour after: Gets hungry. Feed me!
Within in the 2 - 3 hours afterwards: Generally a good mood. I tend to be a little more active in... er, was, in class. (SCHOOL LET OUT YESTERDAY PHATSO!
)
And that's about it. Within the minutes/seconds in between, I'm (A) being made fun of, or (B) looking at a girl I like.
Yippie Ki Yay!
