I go everywhere by bike. Most people will go for the odd bike ride now and again, and when it comes to get off the bike, they are all 'ah, nice to be off the saddle'. For me, I'll ride my bike somewhere, walk around, and then when I get back to the bike, I'm all 'ah, nice to be back on the saddle'

In Manchester, we have a metrolink system. I live around 10 minutes away from one station, so it's very easy to get around the city using this. So really it's just a combination of this and walking that gets me around.

Well, it's not actually a subway, it's an overground thing. But it's the same thing really,, except it runs around the middle of the streets. Think of it like the cable car system in San Francisco, except faster, useful and a lot less queuing up.
Oh, and less bloody tourists.

I honestly cannot argue with that; besides maybe Old Trafford ground, there isn't much use in visiting our City.

I own a Ford F-150 P/u truck. Guess I have been driving Pick ups for about 11 years now. I use them in my work and at my house for remodel purposes(Lumber, drywall, etc). The only drawback is that family members always call when they need something picked up.

They're called light rail.
In Oregon the public transportation system's (TRIMet) Light rail is called MAX. Pretty gay though, because it costs almost 2 bucks and takes forever because there are so many stops. It's faster to drive and sit in traffic (and the transportation committee wonders why the hell no one uses it
).
By the way, in case anyone cares, the mayor of Portland, Vera Kats, has cancer. And I say good; I hope that bitch dies.
There's a lot of s**t her and her ass-raped committee should be doing better and aren't. [addsig]

Come to Melbourne, then you'll know about trams, they're everywhere in the city centre. The guys who run the job have also decided to be nice and give free rides on the "City Loop" tram, further increasing popularity. Hell, we even have a crazy road rule called a "hook turn" (you have to turn left if you want to turn right), which, weird as it may sound, actually makes it easier to travel when dealing with trams.
Plus, down here, they're not slow - they go at about the speed of a bus which skips all the traffic. Quite useful, really.
.
Apart from the trams, though, the public transport system here in Melbourne is horrible. You can get from place to place on it, if you don't mind a series of 15-minute walks and you live within 20km of the city centre, but the trains and buses are horribly infrequent. Probably because the system is going bankrupt... THANKS KENNETT!!!

Good to see another Melbourne resident here.
Yeah, our trains are terrible unless you're going into the city, thats if you live right next to the station.
