i wouldn't base my cards inability to function on a silly game like halo ![]()
how much freakin better can you get than a 9800?
if your game is sluggish, maybe a new pc instead of a card is in order..

Just reciently my friend got a 9800 pro (256mb) and it ran UT2004 better than mine, so I just want a top of the line card that willl last for a long time, as for the halo thing I dont actually care to play it, Its just if it can run a game like halo then it a damn good card. Here is what I have right now:
2.8 P4
800MHz MOB
1 gig ram
9800 pro 128mb
120 gig hard drive
....So I dont think its my computer

what i think is, you have more PC than braincells ![]()
seriously, you either have your sights set to high, or something..
you are basing way to much opinion, off of one poorly optimized game.. halo is not the game to compare other games to..

Well, even with that beefy sucker of a graphics card (one step above mine) you will STILL have to upgrade to the next level of vid card when HL2 comes out. Shadow effects will absolutely murder all the current ones...

HL2 is really scalable for many different systems...it won't kill a 9800 Pro, you just won't get that small handful of effects.

If you absolutly must buy a video card at least wait until December or so, when stuff has been out for awhile and is much cheaper, you'll get some good bang for your buck

I agree, save your money for something in the real world, and ignore what Halo PC does. A 9800 pro will run every effect HL2 has - the E3 stuff was being run on 9800s.
