Is it as good as TNG or Voyager? I haven't seen a single episode of it yet, but was a dedicated fan to both TNG and Voy. Didn't get into DS9, tbh, at all...
i am a trekker to the core, and IMO enterprise takes trek into a whole new area..
it predates kirk and the pre-established genre' most think of when asked "Trek"
the new captain is nothing like any of the others... he is more "peoplish" or normal...
i think its second only to TNG and much better than its 1st two seasons.. TNG took to season 3 to get really good.. enterprise did it from day #1

Same, until I saw the last series of DS9- aka 'When it finally got good', plenty of epic battles, plot twists uncovered, etc. etc.
I've seen a few Enterprises and thought they were pretty terrible and started down that slippery, boring 'PC' (politically correct) slope that Voyager seemed to start- the theme music, it burns!- but meh, never seems to be on TV over here to watch...
I must admit, ive only watched a couple of episodes of Enterprise, but TBH i really didn't like them at all. TNG and TOS obviously reign supreme, but even so i liked Voyager and DS9. Maybe I just havent watched enterprise enough, but from what ive seen it is a disgrace to Star Trek.

kazaa has it on 24/7
and man, you guys are either hard to please, or you had some preconception of what trek is supposed to be like...
take it for what it is.. a "PREQUEL" ![]()
its not really trek yet, till after kirk ![]()
[edit]
for the record, whether you like the title song or not, it is IMO the best choice for the setting..
it is not a true trek, cause it predates starfleet, so thinking it has to follow the ideals all the rest had, is ludicrous..
my suggestion, since you have pre-notions about season 1, watch season 2 or watch this new epesode.. it is pretty good, just not a normal continuation of a season cliffhanger..

Well TNG is obviously the best (if not the originals). I liked DS9 in the later seasons with the war and such. Voyager just generally stunk in my eyes; especially later in the show, where it reduces the Borg to a generic, defeatable faction like all the other races. And Enterprise... Bleh.

you kids, and your preconceptions ...
anyways, moving along..

Forgive me if this sounds bitter but I am almost disgusted with Enterprise. To begin with, I am a huge trekkie. My personal collection is valued at over 20,000.00 dollars. I even hired the key rigger from Voyager and three of the features to rig for me on Firefly last year(He was a shoe in ya know, and yes, christmas was good to me, hehe). Gene Roddenberry is turning over in his grave in this show. Star Trek history , all encompassed in an established line of TV, books, and movies has all been unwritten and twisted to facilitate this obvious milking of a cash cow. Everybody who really knows Trek lore knows the first Captain of an interstellar class(warp drive) Enterprise was an englishman named Robert April (btw, his security officer was George Kirk, James T Kirks father,).Not to mention all the new "Aliens" and other such nonsense that have been nowhere to be seen in 35 years of writing save for this show.Rick Berman and Brannon Braga should be stripped of their respective titles and positions for even thinking this was a good idea, in its current form.
Even the writing is shabby. I sat through about 5 minutes of a complete rip off of Enemy Mine the other night and I could'nt keep watching. It's embarrasing. I will always be a Star Trek fan, and will occasionally watch an episode of Enterprise should it hold my interest, but more often than not they just are'nt worth the effort.
There, I got that off my chest.

Hope all is well guys.

i know a bit of lore too,juim... and you have it a bit off..
the captains you speak of, were all captains, but of the constitution (or is it constellation, i cant ever remember) class ships... it has nothing to do with this particular series..
IMO its no worse, that the prequel in starwars.. the stupid battlestation had no business being in the movies so far in the past.. but yet there it was...
there is no way the station would have existed 20 years or so before episode 4..
anyways... i really like the new show.. i feel it does the preceding series justice... and fills in a few holes from the early years of starfleet..
there is life before kirk you know.. ![]()

for the record, the enterprise kirk commanded was a very old ship, it had two preceding Capitan's before him, being pike, and april..
while april commanded the ship, it was not even known at that time as enterprise, if my memory serves me correctly, it got the name after april and george kirk were lost with all hands on a completely different ship... and sometime about then pike ended up with it...
pike had the ship for 11 years or so prior to kirk, and kirk had it about 10 years, before he blew it up... so the original enterprise was a very old ship..
my point... the new series takes place quite a number of years even before april.. especially considering the top speed of each ship is warp 5 and warp 8 respectively... time-line wise, thats roughly 50 to 100 years..
also if i remember correctly.. this new series is just a few decades after first contact.. so anything is possible...
accept the show for what it is, not what you would have it be.. either like it, or don't, but please don't compare it to the other shows... remember, when TNG came out, there was an uproar from the old-school trekkers, it was a disgrace they claimed... and look how well it did at the end of its 7 year run.... i think this new show will fair at least as well as the rest..

I dont like it either, But its a bit poor to piss take them because of it. Do you not like anime anyway?
We could all piss take each other for what we watch tbh, But it wont get us anywhere.

i roll my eyes when i hear grown kids talk about watching cartoons as if it were a good thing, but i rarely say much.. cause its not proper to knock things that do little or no harm..
i watch cartoons with my grandson on every occasion he wishes.. but i wouldn't promote them as anything special..
anyways, my star trek issue predates most of snarkpits births into this world, so to them, they have no opinion as to my validity in liking the shows i like ![]()
