| Quite honestly, I think it's rather hilarious that the two measures of bandwith are used. Someone wasn't following the KISS principle when they developed modems. |
what burns my butt?
with the same limited line capacity, they can now use DLS speeds..
for years i was told that the copper wires in households could not achieve anything greater than 56k.. come to find out that, it wasn't the wires at all, but the method employed in utilizing them was the problem...
they could include a dsl modem, in every pc, as cheaply as they now do with a 56k analog type..
the phone companies are just greedy.. with little or no further modifications to existing lines , everyone could be on DSL.. the only further enhancements would be the areas outside the current hub areas.. more hubs need to be placed... but this bullshit about phoneline limits is crap.. and many are still forced to use it because the old belief still prevails..
